Jerrdarious Jackson
Jackson may be the best pure basketball player on North Marion as a freshman. Like any young player he has his ups and downs but Thursday against Suncoast he showed a bright future. The 6’1 guard handled pressure when facing full court and half court traps. He has a tight quick handle and rarely is put in a situation he can’t get out of. His passing is advanced for his age. Jackson made mid range pull ups, scored on drives, and made it to the free throw line. Because of his play against a notable team, length, and long term potential he had local scouts buzzing about his future.
Horne is 6’4 combo guard that’s showcasing all his skills this season. He has flashes of shotmaking off the dribble in the midrange hitting turnaround jumpers and step backs. The senior hit threes off the catch and off the dribble. He size allows him to play off ball and still be effective. He has a good handle, makes plays for others, and has the physicality to guard 1-3.
Amare Maxwell
The sophomore out of West Virginia has impressed all week. He’s already a gamer with the sense to show up in big moments. Already has solid positional size at 6’1 with an athletic frame that can add size. He’s shot well from beyond the arc splashing four threes when his team needed an offensive spark. He’s a good athlete that slash to the rim, attack close outs, and defense both backcourt positions.
When you talk about players you want with you in a dark alley you think of Charles. He’s 6’5 tough athletic and strong. He was a consistent threat in the offensive boards and as a downhill attacker. He plays hard looks for physicality and has the physique to keep hitting guys for 32 minutes. Charles can be your perimeter enforcer and dirty work specialist.
Olympia has a strong guard rotation and Owens provides its shooting. He’s made six threes through three games at a 50% clip. These aren’t toe on the line threes he’s shooting from college distance or farther. He’s currently the third leading scorer on a 7A state title contender and has plenty of time to improve. Plus he has the next few months to learn from Cincinnati commit Jizzle James and a a coach with a winning track record in Rob Gordon.
