Rolyns Aligbe Rolyns Aligbe 6'9" | C Minnehaha Academy | 2023 State MN of Minnehaha Academy (sr). Aligbe is about a 6’7, strong, long armed rolling thunder kind of player that teams just really struggle to keep from finishing. He has been really light on his feet with the ball while making moves and that touch has been seen at the rim after making those moves. He also is really good on put-backs with a quick touch to complete. Also has good timing and long arms to block or contest shots. Scored 33 points in the loss to Orono.
Matt Drake Matt Drake 5'11" | PG Lakeville North | 2024 State MN of Lakeville North (jr). Matt Drake Matt Drake 5'11" | PG Lakeville North | 2024 State MN is earning the moniker as one of Minnesota’s most clutch players. Game by game this junior guard seems to come up big when his team needs a big shot. Tonight it was a mid-lane jumper and some free throws on his way to a dozen points and a Panther win.
Aj Greene Aj Greene 6'1" | PG Concordia Academy | 2023 State MN of Concordia Academy (sr). Greene was his usual productive self totalling 22 points, seven boards, and seven assists. He didn’t have a high percentage shooting day making 6 of 18 shots but he did sink three threes and he did get to the foul line nine times making seven. Greene is a guy that can get his shot off whenever he wants, today he had to take a few more tough ones and he came up just a bit short.
Isaiah Hagen Isaiah Hagen 6'3" | PG Orono | 2023 State MN of Orono (sr). The combo guard supreme was checked by smaller guards and scored over them. The combo guard supreme was checked by some bigger players and he went around them. Between the skill, touch, and ability to finish on the move going to the cup he scored 30 points in a win over Minnehaha Academy. One of the best unsigned guards in the state.
Vincent Hillesheim Vincent Hillesheim 6'6" | PF Hopkins | 2023 State MN of Hopkins (sr). Jefferson was small so Vincent completed dominated the paint. His footwork is excellent and his touch around the rim netted him 16 points and all all six foul shots went for makes. He grabbed 14 rebounds including several putback opportunities. He is going to make for an excellent D3 prospect if he wants but this could be a guy that gets an NAIA scholly or a partial maybe at the D2 level.
Sam Massaquoi Sam Massaquoi 5'11" | PG Robbinsdale Cooper | 2023 State MN of Robbinsdale Cooper (sr). Andover was without one of their top players and were 12 hours removed from an overtime game. Who was one of the last guys they wanted to see the next morning? Surely Sam. Massaquoi went at Andover with his quickness to the rim and with his three point stroke scoring 30.
Isaac Matti Isaac Matti 6'1" | SG Hayfield | 2023 State MN of Hayfield (sr). Despite the loss, despite some struggles at times, anybody that watched that game noticed the way that Issac shot the basketball from the perimeter. If he continues to do that even more through the season – he kicked off the game with a fast three threes – I could see his stock continue to lift. Everybody is aware of his resume as a playmaker and winner, but if he throws in 37 or 38 percent three point shooter, even more things open up.
Seth Newbern Seth Newbern 6'2" | PG Robbinsdale Armstrong | 2024 State MN of Robbinsdale Armstrong (jr). First off all, Nebern is a bit taller and a lot stronger and it’s really helped what he does on defense as well as when he attacks the rim. Newbern put the game away for his team with a late And1 (wasn’t called), some foul shots, and a steal/assist combo. He’s looking every but like a top 20 prospect in his class.
Trey Smith Trey Smith 6'7" | SF Osseo | 2023 State MN of Osseo (sr). Trey hit three more threes, he grabbed 11 rebounds, he was the most athletic and explosive player on the floor in his team’s loss, and Smith continues to improve in a lot of ways. Smith would likely want a few of his attempts back as he was 6 of 16 which was a couple shorts short of the day he would want but overall his game continues to grow and you have to wonder how that ceiling will really be in three years. UMD, you got a steal.
Hayden Tibbits Hayden Tibbits 5'11" | PG Wayzata | 2023 State MN of Wayzata (sr). Hayden gives a team everything and tonight it was 21 points on 8 of 17 shooting plus five boards and five assists. Tibbits had athletic guards on him all game but he was still able to commonly get deep in the paint to touch in shots or create attempts for others. An impressive showing despite the loss.
Hudson Vaith Hudson Vaith 6'4" | SG Lakeville North | 2023 State MN of Lakeville North (sr). I’m not sure what level Vaith will be at but to me he’s scoring in the type of versatile way that could land him a top MIAC spot or maybe even a D2 partial spot. He was once again a reliable wing option against a very good Class AAAA team scoring 17 points on 7 f 13 shooting.
Zack Wells Zack Wells 6'1" | SG LCWM | 2023 State MN of LCWM (sr). Wells was a single rebound away from a triple double. He beat his man to the middle routinely and those attacks often led to wide open shots for teammates which they did a great job of sinking. He had a dozen assists, nine rebounds, scored ten points on nine shots, and was outstanding on Aj Greene Aj Greene 6'1" | PG Concordia Academy | 2023 State MN defensively forcing a dozen misses.
Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN of DeLaSalle (sr). What a performance. Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN was purely incredible. Despite constant attention he hit three clutch threes and had an And1 in the last three minutes including an incredible buzzer beater to win the game. A 34 point game and it was one of the toughest 34 I have seen. Signed with Lehigh.
Nolan Winter Nolan Winter 7'0" | PF Lakeville North | 2023 State #98 Nation MN of Lakeville North (sr). I loved the fire that Winter played with. His timed putback, his three, a score on the move, all of them were followed with a fired up response. Winter helped get the Panthers out to a nice start and then finished with an 18 point, 11 rebound double-double making 7 of 13 shots.
