The Raleigh Christian Academy Eagles hosted their first home game of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday night as they hosted the Shining Light Academy Knights in a back-and-forth battle between two well-coached groups. Things got off to a fast start for both squads right away as 2023 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1655335' first='Jake' last='Schneider'] was an early face to get to know for the Knights alongside [player_tooltip player_id='1240918' first='Jordan' last='Pyke'], a well-known face to PrepHoops NC.

Pyke and Schneider would combine for the Knights' first 15 points as Pyke opened the game with a quick seven points and Schneider showed his prowess on the perimeter with eight points to the tune of two made 3-pointers. Shots from [player_tooltip player_id='1655334' first='AK' last='Proctor'] and [player_tooltip player_id='854913' first='Jakel' last='Powell'] and a late surge from 2024 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1330894' first='Gabe' last='Marquis'] would keep pace with Shining Light though, as things finished all tied up at 15 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Proctor and Powell really got going for the Raleigh Christian offense as Proctor would score 10 of his 13 points in the frame, showing off his range on the perimeter and ability to move without the ball in space. Powell was much more reserved in Game 2 of the season, taking what the defense gave him and getting to the free throw line. He finished with five points in the second quarter. Shining Light wouldn't go away quietly however, as Schneider knocked down another three 3-pointers in the second quarter to pace his squad with 17 points in the first half.

At the half, things remained all tied up at 35-35.

In the third quarter though, the Eagles would start to create some separation. Powell poured in seven of the team's 16 points, showing off some range and getting to his spots off the bounce. The Eagles defense held the Knights to just nine points in the third quarter to create a 51-44 lead in the process.

In the fourth quarter, the guard play of [player_tooltip player_id='1330894' first='Gabe' last='Marquis'] took over once again. He went off for 11 of his 23 points in the final quarter and controlled the pace of the game with his ability to draw fouls on the Knights. [player_tooltip player_id='1240918' first='Jordan' last='Pyke'] would still finish with 18 points but he fouled out with roughly two minutes left in the game. [player_tooltip player_id='1655335' first='Jake' last='Schneider'] led all scorers for Shining Light Academy with 19 points.
