I was able to attend the event for most of the day on Sunday Oct. 23 and here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1.
Douglas Langford

CA-S
– St Pius X St Matthias 2025
Langford is a promising young big with a lot of upside. He’s active in the paint and hits the offensive glass getting put-back opportunities. He runs the floor well and is able to recognize when to make the pass. He works well in the low post. He is able to get post position and hold it. Good footwork with a nice touch at the basket. He can shoot a little hook shot and he has a little turnaround jumper from the post. Good defensive rebounder boxing out and throwing outlet passes. Defensively, he has the mobility to cover wings and stay in front of the ball-handler.
2. Kamren Williams – AOSS Prep 2023
Williams has always been a solid lead guard. He can find the balance between getting scoring opportunities and hitting the open player. He’s a very athletic guard and is always looking to finish strong at the basket. Unselfish player who always keeps the ball moving and is always ready to make the extra pass. He uses his strength to post up smaller guards. Able to create contact and draw fouls. Quick hands defensively, knocks balls free and forces turnovers. Always been a good on-ball defender keeping his stance low and sliding feet well.
3.
Osami Maciel

– St Paul 2025
Maciel was one of the best point guards at the showcase. He’s very efficient running the offense, a true pass-first guard who looks for the open teammate every possession. He has very solid handles and is able to dribble under control against defensive pressure. Gets to where he wants to go on the court consistently off the dribble. Able to attack the rim and can finish with a little floater or drive and kick the ball out to open teammates.
4. Kai Bradley – North Torrance 2024
Bradley is another solid point guard. I first saw him play about a year or two ago and he’s developed his game even more since then. Able to make entry passes and he keeps the ball moving in the halfcourt. When I first saw him, he wasn’t that tall, but he’s clearly grown a couple of inches since then and can see the court well. He’s incredibly quick and sprints out on the break. Makes decisive, quick passes; doesn’t hold on to the ball for too long. Offensively, his strength is in being able to get into the paint off the dribble.
