Showed impressive control and feel—he was never sped up and dictated the pace on his terms. A pass-first guard with excellent change of speed, he conducted the offense with maturity and made smart, timely decisions. Defensively, he brought toughness and effort, making plays as a scrappy on-ball defender. Offensively, he showed a smooth mid-range game with real elevation on his pull-ups—can rise up off the bounce or hit shots on the move.

Maciel has more than proven that he’s a player to watch. His ability to pass the basketball is a thing of beauty. Maciel doesn’t just pass, but it seems like his passes are always going downhill toward the rim. As a point guard he doesn’t just use the dribble to advance the ball, but instead gets it down the floor with the pass. Maciel has a pretty bounce pass that he can knife through traffic to cutting teammates.
