The Top 250 Expo showcased some of Colorado’s best talent. Here are some guys who put the ball in the bucket the most, the top scorers from the event.
Hunter Guiles Hunter Guiles 6'2" Valor Christian | 2023 CO – Valor Christian
Hunter Guiles Hunter Guiles 6'2" Valor Christian | 2023 CO was one of the top scorers at the event due to his quick trigger and deep three-point range. Hunter can create for himself with or without the ball in his hands. Off the catch, he is a good shooter who also uses triple threat jabs and rip-throughs to create space. After defenders close out hard, he is good at attacking these close-outs to get downhill. Near the rim, Hunter can finish contested layups and has a good floater.
Luke Justice Luke Justice 6'1" | SG Frederick | 2023 State CO – Frederick
Luke Justice Luke Justice 6'1" | SG Frederick | 2023 State CO has made a name for himself as one of the craftiest scorers in the state. With the ball in his hands, Luke is someone you have to pick up early as he has deep range and can make tough contested shots off of the dribble. Luke plays at his own pace, knowing when and where to change speeds. At the rim, the lefty is a crafty scorer who uses a variety of moves to finish layups.
Braydon Jacob – Lutheran
Braydon Jacob was an impressive spot-up shooter who has shown the potential to be a deadly three-level scorer. Off the catch, Braydon is a very good shooter and has shown improvements in hitting shots off of the dribble. He did a good job of attacking closeouts at the event to get to the downhill. Near the rim, he is a good scorer off of one foot who can create for himself with cuts to the basket.
Trystan Rangel – Heritage
Trystan Rangel was one of the most impressive incoming freshmen at the event as he showed off his advanced skill for his age. He has a tight handle on the ball and made multiple tough shots off of the dribble. At the rim, he is able to contort his body while hanging in the air to find the best finish. Trystan also shows potential as a point guard, he made the right passes to open and/or cuttting teammates. Trystan will be one of the many talented incoming freshmen to keep an eye on to make a varsity impact this season.
Robert Heflin – Eaglecrest
Robert Heflin was a consistent spot-up shooter who can score around the rim as well. Off of the ball, he found open spots on the three-point line and has a quick trigger on his jump shot. Robert did a good job using jab steps and rip-through to create space when driving to the basket. Near the rim, Robert used a variety of euro-steps to get around defenders. Robert is a new name to me but I am excited to keep an eye on him with a stacked Eaglecrest squad this upcoming high school season.
