Speed is an understatement when watching Morris. The West Ranch transfer was one of the top performers in both the drills and scrimmage facets of the camp. Morris has elite speed and a creative handle with the rock. His ball handling combined with his quick burst allow him to breakdown his defenders on the way to the rack where despite his size, he has the craftiness to finish with a mix of floaters, scoops, and up and unders. Darrell shows a nice smooth jumper as he hit from long range consistently. Morris was also huge on defense as he does a great job of moving his feet and he also pickpocketed several players who tried to take him in the post. I expect Morris and West Ranch to have a huge year.
One of most impressive all around guards of the camp. The brother of former Rancho Christian and current UC Riverside wing Luke Turner, the younger has a completely different skillset than the eldest. Jack is a high IQ crafty guard with a ton of tricks in his bag. Turner has a good outside jumper but does not solely rely on the three ball. Jack works hard and is constantly finding way to get to his spots. There were several times when he could have settled for the deep ball but either created for an even better shot from midrange, or a shot around the rim. Turner is very impressive around the basket as he utilizes his footwork and IQ to get off turn arounds, up and under, and fall away shots. Watch out for Bosco and Turner this year.
Full of potential and a very high ceiling. Bamgboye is great shot blocker with good instincts around the rim. He moves his feet very well and is agile. Luke has good rim running potential as he gets up and down the court very well and loves throwing down everything around the rim. There were several instances when smaller defenders were switched onto him and he responded by dunking all over them. Bamgboye held his own in the ball handling portions of the camp and shows the potential to get better. You love to see a big man who has the potential to develop control of the rock.
Bahati is a combo guard who can score at all 3 levels. He has good athleticism which allows him to adjust and create around the rim. Seven is a mid range assassin as he works to get to the elbow. In the scrimmages, he displayed an affinity to create and rise from 15 where he is near automatic. On defense, Bahati has a ton of potential as he moves his feet and has the length to bother his opponents on both the perimeter and near the basket. Love the potential of Bahati.
The crafty 6’1″ guard is one of those players who can excel at any part of the game at any given time. Phipps has a good touch on his jumper and has consistency out to the 3 pt line. He is a very tough shot maker who knows how to create to score off the dribble. The Arizona product not only can score for himself but makes text book passes to set up his teammates in their shooting pocket. Another underrated part of his game is his ability to crash the boards. Phipps does a great job of hitting the boards and getting his team ready for the fast break. The guard excelled all summer for Belmont Shore and looks to have a huge season for St. Marys.
