About Jack
Expert Analysis
Britt Wright | Prep Hoops Scout
He’s a confident productive combo guard. He has the shake and bake handles to freeze defenders, he’s seems to be in constant attack mode when he has the ball never stopping his dribble, using floaters, and paint jumpers. He’ll drop 3’s cutting off screens, spotting up for the catch and shoot anywhere around the perimeter. He has a quick releases, not much hesitation, mostly all in the flow of the offense. He was the games leading scorer with 20pts.

Turner did most of his damage in the first half in this one with 3 three’s and 11 total points but his 3-point shooting ability is such that the defense is worried about him whenever he’s on the court. A player who is not afraid the spotlight, Turner played with supreme confidence and swagger. As highlighted with his performance 2 weeks ago, Jack is an extremely tough, high IQ guard who is the definition of getting to your spot. Against the tough guards of Bishop Montgomery, Turner kept working and getting into the key to find high percentage shots. He is extremely patient as he breaks down his initial defender, then reads the help and comes with additional counters to finish whether with a turnaround, fadeaway or scoop shot at the rim. You can tell Turner works on his craft and has a ton of tricks up his sleeve. There was a sequence in which he was trapped near the basket by 2 defenders and a hackler from the audience yelled out “he got nothing” and Turner responded with a tough angle shot that hit the bottom of the net. You have got to love the toughness and character of Turner, as his mentality will take him places.

One of most impressive all around guards of the camp. The brother of former Rancho Christian and current UC Riverside wing Luke Turner, the younger has a completely different skillset than the eldest. Jack is a high IQ crafty guard with a ton of tricks in his bag. Turner has a good outside jumper but does not solely rely on the three ball. Jack works hard and is constantly finding way to get to his spots. There were several times when he could have settled for the deep ball but either created for an even better shot from midrange, or a shot around the rim. Turner is very impressive around the basket as he utilizes his footwork and IQ to get off turn arounds, up and under, and fall away shots. Watch out for Bosco and Turner this year.
