These types of tournaments can be ough to play in, with limited minutes and frequent substitutions. It can be hard to get into the flow of the game. Some players are better suited for a wire to wire in season game. They are more comfortable and they get into the flow. Some are just fine in these environments and go after it right away. I saw plenty of both. There were players that I haven’t mentioned but I see you. I know what you can do. That said let’s look at some of the players that take it to another level.
Not so bold prediction
There will be numerous players that will ball out who I didn’t even mention in any article. That’s what is fun about all this. The players that make me look good or the ones who make me look bad. Either way, I’m excited to follow a lot of players that I have discovered through writing for prephoops. The season is not far away. Looking forward to following you all.
Bold prediction #1
This kid will be a division 1 player. Once he gets stronger, and he still has two more years of high school basketball. His skill set is phenomenal. He is confident, as he should be, and it shows. As a junior, he’s just now hitting that age where a lot of players start to understand how good they can be. The next step is to work as hard as you can, then work harder. His shooting, ball handling, and quickness off the dribble are at another level. He’s one of my favorite players to watch because of his specific skills. Show me a better pul up jumper. I’ll wait. Use the weight room, work, and I am confident in this prediction.
Bold prediction #2
He will be the MVP of the Metro league this year. He didn’t play in it last year, he was at Timberline. No need to worry about how he’ll do in the toughest league in the state. I would have never said this three months ago. Now that I have watched more of him, I feel confident in this prediction. What does he do best? He is exceptional at getting to the rack and finishing. He’s a great three point shooter with range. He’s quick and can handle the rock. There will be some stiff competition for this honor but he will be in the running.
Highlights
Bold prediction #3
Annie Wright wins back to back state titles. He’s one of the biggest reasons why. He has a few teammates that contribute greatly to this prediction. Mainly Martin Kaupanger Martin Kaupanger 6’5″ | SG Annie Wright | 2025 State WA ,who I am disappointed that I didn’t get to see him in Bellevue. These two are at another level in 1A basketball. There are teams that will have something to say about this. Kings, Lynden Christian, to ba a couple. This kid will also have something to say. Mainly that he’s an ultra athletic guard with great size and two years of high school left. The 1A state tournament will be one to watch this season.
Bold prediction #4
He will get an MVP award in one of the next two seasons in his league. He’s one that you probably don’t have to remind to work hard. That’s how he played in Bellevue. He was out there to win and it showed. He is a mature looking junior who has a ton of potential. Lights out shooting, toughness to the basket, plays defense. He is one to watch the next two years. That in itself was news to me until yesterday. I thought he was a senior. I said he looked college ready because of that. College ready junior here.
Bold prediction #5
He will put himself in the running for class 1A player of the year. He was a beast, man on a mission in Bellevue. I had him for 24 points. I think about 16 of those came in succession. Mostly all coming by way of tough drives to the hoop. I think he averaged about 20PPG last year. He might be closer to 30 this year. He’s a tough kid who is going to go right at you.
