October 1st is right around the corner and that means the high school basketball season is almost here! While October will bring plenty of preseason preview content throughout the site, September is about the individuals after the summer has wrapped up. Earlier this month, we started our ranking updates with the 2025 class. This week, we’re putting a spotlight on the 2024 rankings with the Top 60 juniors in the state. In case you missed it, you can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. In this post, we put a spotlight on four prospects who are newcomers to the recent ranking update. These players have been on the radar but have made their first appearances in the rankings and could be primed for big seasons ahead.
Carter Benton Carter Benton 6'3" Holland Hall | 2024 OK – Guard – Holland Hall
Every time we do a ranking update, we get some immediate feedback on the players that we missed on. Some are considered to low and then others that we had left off. In our ranking update back in June, one of the players left off was Holland Hall guard Carter Benton Carter Benton 6'3" Holland Hall | 2024 OK . It was pretty obvious within a few weeks that we had made a mistake and needed to get him on for the September update. Benton was Holland Hall’s second leading scorer as a sophomore and one of the better shooters in Class 4A last season. The Dutch got bounced out of the state tournament and Benton struggled at times but that doesn’t take away from the full picture of what he was able to do as a sophomore. And he continued that momentum into this offseason and performed incredibly well. We think that Holland Hall will once again be a team to watch this season and Benton is a big reason behind that. Not only is he a newcomer but his stock is going up.

Despite losing a few starters from last year’s team, Union is still going to be a team to watch in Class 6A with their 2024 class. They have two outstanding guards with

, who is at least 6’10 and might be getting closer to 7’0. Madrid finished off his sophomore season strong by playing starter minutes down the stretch for the Redhawks. He was a walking double double and was automatic in the paint. Because of his size, there’s just no answer in defending him when he gets the ball near the basket. He was a standout this summer in team camps and on the travel circuit. In team camps, because you can’t foul out, teams would take advantage of that and that was the only way to stop Madrid from attacking the basket. He still has room to grow but we’re excited about the potential he has based on the last eight months.
Michael Doctor Michael Doctor 6'2" | CG Victory Christian | 2024 State OK – Guard – Victory Christian
One of the 2024 prospects we’re excited to see this winter is Victory Christian guard Michael Doctor Michael Doctor 6'2" | CG Victory Christian | 2024 State OK . The junior had a strong season with Victory as they made it all the way to the state championship game before falling to the Kingfisher dynasty. But the excitement level for Doctor’s junior season should be high because he’s entering a new role with the Conquerors. Their star player from last season was guard Joshua Udoumoh and he’s graduated and the Conquerors need a new athletic guard to fill that role. We’re not suggesting that Doctor is going to fit that spot perfectly and they’ll be no drop off because Udoumoh was one of the best players in the state. But we are saying that the drop off might not be as big as you think. Doctor has had a strong offseason and despite finding some success on the gridiron early this fall, Doctor is hungry to get back on the court. Victory will once again be one of the top teams in Class 4A.

Our final newcomer to the 2024 rankings is yet another prospect from Edmond North who is going into his junior season. The defending 6A champions have two of the top four prospects in the class but they also have another one in the top 30 with forward

, who is #4 in the recent ranking update, will make up one of the best front court combos in Class 6A basketball this season. Ross had an outstanding offseason while playing for Buddy Buckets and he’s currently trying to make an impact on the gridiron for Edmond North’s football team. Ross is a potential gamechanger as he continues to grow and become more of a threat in the paint. Ross brings some guard-like skills to the post as he’s turned quite a few heads this offseason with his passing abilities. There’s no doubt that the Huskies are loaded and Ross has to be considered on the rise.
