In this article, I will take a look at players in the NWC who went up in our rankings update.
New ranking: 35 — Old ranking: 42
This Sehome HS senior had a great summer and showed improvements from what I saw. Kepley is a team first player, as he’s not afraid to let his teammates takeover and score the ball. Grant is patient with the ball, letting the game come to him. His deep shot shouldn’t be overlooked, he can shoot just as good as anyone in the NWC. He will likely be the facilitator for this Mariners team who is returning almost every role player and added a Western Washington Men’s Basketball coaching legend in Brad Jackson.
New ranking: 37 — Old ranking: 57
Tyler took a fairly big jump in our latest update. I watched Sipma play quite a bit over the summer with Lynden Christian during summer league. His game has taken that next step to put him in the conversation as a top guard in the 2023 class. His ball handling is top tier, moving around while containing control with ease. The pick and roll game between him and 2024 big man Jeremiah Wright Jeremiah Wright 6’6″ | PF Lynden Christian | 2024 State WA was almost unstoppable. I can’t wait to watch the Lyncs this winter.
New ranking: 53 — Old ranking: 74
Another player on the Sehome team who made a big jump. When I watched Grey last season, I could tell he loved the game of basketball and knew he had potential. I can’t speak specifically if Garrison has grown, but when I saw him in person the other week, he looked like he had grown. His game has grown on the court too, he looks more agile and athletic on the court. His deep shot is already one of the best for a big man in the class and that’s only going to improve.
New ranking: 79 — Old ranking: WL
Bennett is another guy I watched a lot of this summer playing locally up here in Whatcom County. Howe is extremely athletic, as he threw down multiple dunks over defenders throughout the summer. His long range shot has taken a step in the right direction, as you can tell he’s been working on it. He’s done a fantastic job at mastering post moves down low too, as he has almost mastered his turnaround shot from the low post. His senior year will be one to pay attention too.

New ranking: 84 — Old ranking: WL
Coston earned his spot in the top 100 over the summer. He was facilitating the ball OUTSTANDING every time I watched him play. He has the ability to take over any game he’s in. He can do that with his passing or he can score the ball in bunches. Most people’s eyes are on 2024 Anthony Canales Anthony Canales 6’4″ | SG Lynden | 2024 State WA when watching the Lions, but don’t forget about the guy bringing the ball up. I believe Parcher will have a great senior year for the Lions and will rise in these rankings again when we update them.
