Arness Lawson Arness Lawson 6'1" | PG Pickerington North | 2025 State #306 Nation OH , 6’1 PG Pickerington North 2025: Lawson is the undisputed leader for the Panthers after they graduated three senior guards to the next level. Lawson leads an inexperienced squad but was impressive for this new look squad. I was impressed with Lawson’s scoring in the open court, using his athleticism and strength to finish in transition. Lawson also had the pass of the day with a baseline skip to the opposite corner that left me speechless. I’d like to see Lawson improve his handle and allow him to create his own shot more often, but this season of being forced to take on a higher usage role should help him in the long run.
Micah Young Micah Young 6'1" | CG Westerville North | 2025 State OH , 6’1 CG Westerville North 2025: Young is one of multiple Westerville North guards featured in this article. Young has a strong frame and is capable of playing either on or off the ball. Young shoots a clean ball off the catch and while he likes attacking with his left hand, can finish with either around the basket.
Tai Perkins Tai Perkins 5'11" | PG Westerville North | 2025 State OH , 5’10 PG Westerville North 2025: Perkins and Young are a talented 2025 guard duo who both will play major roles as Sophomore’s. Perkins is a bit smaller and uses his quickness to get to the basket and draw defenders to him. Perkins is also a tough defender who got many steals throughout the day.
Devin Brown Devin Brown 6'5" | SF Olentangy Orange | 2025 State OH , 6’4 PF Olentangy Orange 2025: Olentangy Orange will win this season with their senior guard play, but Brown is going to be the x-factor for them. Brown provides rebounding and floor spacing from the forward position and has the body to add muscle and become a more diverse player. This season, Brown needs to make open shots created by his teams guards and rebound, rebound, rebound. Brown will likely get to showcase some more scoring punch as a Junior or Senior, but this could be Olentangy Orange’s best district title shot for a while.
Cal Thrush Cal Thrush 6'4" | PF Upper Arlington | 2025 OH , 6’4 PF Upper Arlington 2025: Upper Arlington graduated their entire starting line-up and now will have a completely new look squad in 2022-23. Thrush was the star of the show on Thursday, as the 6’4 PF was finishing around the basket and showing his ability to space the floor. Thrush has a frame of a football linemen and also excels on the gridiron. With a younger Golden Bears squad, Thrush will be one of many players looked to be leaders for a team that’s built a winning culture.
Ej Walker, 6’7 PF Lloyd Memorial (KY) 2025: Walker was dominant as the northern Kentucky product showcased why he might wind up being a high major recruit. Walker was dominating from the face-up game, using controlled moves and hop steps to set up mid-range jumpers. I see how he wins in a lot of the same ways that Devin Royal Devin Royal 6'6" | PF Pickerington Central | 2023 State #49 Nation OH wins and Walker is more athletic than Royal was at the same age. Walker can put it on the floor and was an absolute warrior as he continued to produce despite being exhausted on the court. Walker plays on All Ohio Red with many of Ohio’s top 2025 stars and would be very highly ranked on this website if he played his high school ball in Ohio.
