The 2021-2022 high school season ended in March and the Prep Hoops Circuit is in full swing. And while a lot of our coverage is circuit-heavy as well as travel ball as a hole, we’re also taking a look back at the high school season and all of the fantastic players that made an impact across the state. We also made a decision to do something a little different this year. Instead of traditional All State teams where it’s not based on what class you’re in and it’s just the best players in the state, we went the other direction. We’ll be posting All Star teams for Class 6A, 5A and 4A. Along with combined teams for 3A/2A and A and B. Stay tuned throughout the week for more postseason content. Also stay tuned for next week where we announce our Player Of The Year and then take a VERY early look at the 2022-2023 high school season.
In this post, we take a look at the five best players in Class 4A this season. And we’ll go ahead and say it right now. This is not a perfect list. And Kingfisher faithful can go ahead and get upset right about now as no Yellowjackets are among the five players picked. And while it seems impossible to not have a state champion representing the best of a class, if you saw Kingfisher this year, you’ll admit, that was an ultimate team. They had no superstars but they had several good players that all played team basketball and that carried them to a state championship. It’s not a knock on the players, it’s a compliment to the program. Here’s a look at the five best from Class 4A this season.
Caylen Goff-Brown Caylen Goff-Brown 6'2" | PG Tulsa Central | 2022 State OK – 2022 Guard – Central
Our first player on the 4A team has been one of the more productive players in 4A basketball over the last several seasons. Caylen Goff-Brown Caylen Goff-Brown 6'2" | PG Tulsa Central | 2022 State OK has been a name to watch in the Tulsa area since breaking onto the scene as a freshman. It’s hard to argue that any other players in Class 4A had more production than Goff-Brown in the last four seasons. And during his senior year, Goff-Brown was on top of his game once again and averaged over 20 points per game and was a dynamic scorer for the Braves. Unfortunately, Goff-Brown and the Braves were left out of the state tournament after getting upset in the area round. However, he still was one of the best players in the state this season once again. Goff-Brown has consistently been one of the top prospects in the state’s 2022 class and nothing has changed since that breakout freshman season.
CJ Nickson CJ Nickson 6'6" | SF Weatherford | 2025 State #309 Nation OK – 2025 Forward – Weatherford
One of only two freshmen to make one of the All Star teams is Weatherford 2025 forward CJ Nickson CJ Nickson 6'6" | SF Weatherford | 2025 State #309 Nation OK . The Eagles came up just shy of playing for a Class 4A state championship and it’s hard to argue the impact that Nickson had in his first high school season. The freshman averaged nearly 20 points per game and it was blatantly obvious that he was one of the best athletes in Class 4A. Nickson was an absolute force in the paint and it’s going to be fun to watch him grow over the next few seasons. As it stands right now, Nickson has to be considered a top five prospect within the state’s 2025 class. Nickson was outstanding in the paint with points and rebounds. We want to see how Nickson elevates his game, especially on the offensive end because he’s started to show the ability to extend outside of the paint.
Isaac McDoulett Isaac McDoulett 6'6" | SG Tuttle | 2022 State OK – 2022 Forward – Tuttle
Just like with Caylen Goff-Brown Caylen Goff-Brown 6'2" | PG Tulsa Central | 2022 State OK and Central, Tuttle and their senior star were stunned in the area round and the Tigers missed out on the state tournament. And just like with Goff-Brown, that didn’t stop us from putting forward Isaac McDoulett Isaac McDoulett 6'6" | SG Tuttle | 2022 State OK on this list where he belongs after an outstanding senior campaign. Tuttle was routinely in top ten battles with other 4A teams throughout the season and McDoulett not only showed up but he did so in a big way. He was a double-double machine and put up some monster numbers throughout the season. It was going to be nearly impossible to leave him off this list after featuring him so many times throughout the season. It seemed like every week when we wrote about Tuttle, McDoulett had an insane stat line and was one of the top performers, game after game. He certainly raised his game to new heights this year.
Joshua Udoumoh Joshua Udoumoh 6'4" | SG Victory Christian | 2022 State OK – 2022 Guard – Victory Christian
Victory Christian made it all the way to the state championship but had to settle for the silver ball. Leading the Conquerors throughout the season was senior guard Joshua Udoumoh Joshua Udoumoh 6'4" | SG Victory Christian | 2022 State OK . Coming into this season, Udoumoh was without a doubt one of the best players in 4A basketball and because of that, the Conquerors got everyone’s best shot. In my opinion, Udoumoh is on the short list for the best athlete in the state and he’s without a doubt a top ten prospect within the state’s 2022 class. Udoumoh could score from just about anywhere on the floor but he could also run the offense and get his teammates involved and had some of the best passes that I saw in person this year. And then you put him on the defensive side of the ball where he can utilize his athleticism to terrorize defenses. Udoumoh was absolutely one of the best overall players this year.
Reid Lovelace Reid Lovelace 5'10" | PG Crossings Christian | 2022 State OK – 2022 Guard – Crossings Christian
Despite missing a chunk of his senior season, we couldn’t deny the impact that Crossings Christian guard Reid Lovelace Reid Lovelace 5'10" | PG Crossings Christian | 2022 State OK has had not only this season but last season as well. Crossings came into this year with a big target on their back as defending state champs in Class 3A. Despite that, Crossings was one game shy of playing for a state championship. Lovelace was a big reason behind that. He was their best player on the floor and had them close to playing for a gold ball. He also came up clutch once again on the biggest stage earlier in the state tournament. We also credit with Lovelace helping out freshman guard Cal Furnish Cal Furnish 5'11" | PG Crossings Christian | 2025 State OK who became one of the breakout players of this season. The Crossings senior isn’t the biggest prospect but he without a doubt is one of the better high school players that we’ve seen in the last two years.
