For me, this mental toughness is crucial considering they are going into freshman and sophomore classes in high school.
Cole Scherer Cole Scherer 6'2" | PG Valor Christian | 2025 State CO – Valor Christian
Incredibly well composed for his age, Scherer proved he can playmake consistently out of pick and roll situations. Coming off screens, Scherer controlled the pace and kept his dribble going through traffic with either hand. Upon getting inside, he displayed vision with kick-outs to the corners along with difficult passes in the pick and roll. Another key to his game is his shooting ability both of the catch and off the dribble. He is capable stepping into mid range jumpers, where he has the ability to shoot over contests but tends to not force tough shots. His possession of legitimate shooting range is hard to find among athletes his age, where not only the upper body is consistent but his lower body lacks much sway. Really big fan of his half-court playmaking and overall shooting gravity, be on the lookout for his name through the next few years.
Andrew Crawford Andrew Crawford 6'6" | CG ThunderRidge | 2024 State #88 Nation CO – ThunderRidge
Crawford is must watch basketball due to his creativity in the open court and quickly growing frame at 6’5. His burst off the first step is already farther along that most his age, where he can blow by opponents from a simple jab or hesitation. Ballhandling is an area he already excels at, where he tends to use an in-and-out into a dribble between the legs to get downhill. Crawford is a lengthy athlete, given his long strides along with the burst, your team will need a athletic and pesky defender to swarm him. Given his size, Crawford has an easy time shooting over smaller guards who have the misfortune of guarding him. He has a high release point and a quick motion. The jumper can come quickly off the dribble, whether it is a step-back three or a pull up jumper in the mid-range his agility and quick shot is tough to stop. While Crawford still has room to grow on defense, the tools are all there to become a two-way force when he is motivated. Right now I would have him as the top player in the class of 2024, especially if he has more room to grow.
Doren Sacha Doren Sacha 6'2" Thomas Jefferson | 2024 CO – Thomas Jefferson
The combo-guard out of Grandview High School continued a steady, balanced effort of playmaking and rim pressure throughout the tournament. Given how stacked of an offensive he was on, featuring Andrew Crawford Andrew Crawford 6'6" | CG ThunderRidge | 2024 State #88 Nation CO , Anthony Harris Jr Anthony Harris Jr 6'5" Smoky Hill | 2022 CO ., and Hunter Guiles Hunter Guiles 6'0" | CG Valor Christian | 2023 State CO , Sacha had to find ways to help his team other than scoring. He did well pushing the fast break, where he racked up 8 assists alone on Sunday. Within half court possessions he looked to score around the rim most often, proving he can score off-balance. He clearly has great touch with the right hand, but I would like to see him become more ambidextrous as a finisher since he is not a bruising player, although he is wiry strong. Like Crawford, his athleticism is already a step ahead of most competition within the state, allowing him easier opportunities to create for himself and teammates. As Sacha gets stronger I expect his ability to score to take a leap in the next year, especially once he really begins using his verticality on both ends.
