Let’s take a look at some of the top Class of 2023 performers that we got the chance to see during those months and the players that we feel college coaches should be keeping an eye on.
Big Shots/ Fayetteville Flash Guard Treymane Parker Treymane Parker 6'3" | CG OT Elite | 2023 #169 Nation GA : Scoring the ball at a very high level and making plays above the rim consistently is what we saw from him in both settings. His speed allows him to get out into transition to make plays but he also displayed a very impressive midrange game, getting to his spots and elevating over defenders for buckets. NC A&T has been the only D1 program to offer him a scholarship so far but he has picked up interest from several programs on the D1 level.
71st HS Forward James Scott James Scott 6'9" | PF EE Smith | 2023 State NC : He has seen his stock rise this spring/summer, picking up scholarship offers from High Point University and Appalachian State with interest from various other D1 programs. There is plenty to like about what he can potentially be on both ends of the floor due to his height, wingspan and skillset that we have seen already. Standing at 6’8 with the ability to be a 20 Point/10 Rebound type of player, he’s shown that he can score the ball inside by using his size and athleticism. He has the ability to be an impact player on the defensive side of the ball, as he has all the tools you want to see in an interior defender.
Pine Forest/Team Loaded Guard Isaiah Washington Isaiah Washington 6'5" | SG Winston-Salem Christian | 2024 State NC : Certain players can pretty much guarantee you over 20 Points per game and Washington is one of those guys. He’s wired to score the ball at a high level and still has plenty of upside that will have even more college coaches intrigued sooner than later. A 6’5 Guard that can play on and off the ball, he can score from all three levels without much of an issue which has led to D1 offers and interest.
St. Pauls/ Acts Elite Forward Marcus Galbreath: He’s a player that we feel will take the next step as far as production which should lead to a rise in his recruitment interest. At this point he is a player that can make an impact on both ends of the floor but where he really makes his impact is on the defensive side of the ball. He blocks shots, secures rebounds and alters shots at high level, using his size and timing, he’s able to make a nice impact without getting into foul trouble often.
Farmville Central/ Garner Road Guard Jah Short Jah Short 6'4" | CG Farmville Central | 2023 State NC : Over the past few seasons he’s been a role player for his high school squad, making a nice impact on games when needed and putting together several highlight plays. Now he steps in as one of the leaders on the team, playing the combo Guard spot, he’s called on to score, facilitate and defend at a high level. During the ECI event we got the opportunity to see him showcase some of his ability on both ends of the floor and he seems to be embracing his new role.
