AJ Kula AJ Kula 6'5" | CG Valor Christian | 2021 State CO – Valor Christian
Kula went off on Monday for a season-high 28 points in a win over Columbine. The senior combo-guard went 10-12 from the field and was clicking on all cylinders. Kula is a rim attacker but his shot was falling and he hit four 3-pointers in this one. When he is knocking down the shot, there are not many ways to stop this Valor team that has the right pieces around him. Solid day for him and they look like their finding their footing.
Chase Miller – Chatfield
Chatfield is 8-0 on the season and deserve some love over there. In Chatfield’s big win over Pomona, a player that has gone under the radar for far too long but has proven to be a consistent option for the Chargers has been their 6’6 big man Chase Miller. Miller put up a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds in the game and his work on the boards has him as one of the top rebounders in the conference. The junior has been a glasscleaning big that is not easily backed down on the block, alters shots at the rim and is mobile. He does not have to score to be effective and Chatfield will need him to be at his very best with the week that is upcoming for them.
Austin Peterson Austin Peterson 6'2" | CG Green Mountain | 2021 State CO – Green Mountain
Peterson has elevated his game in this senior season and that Green Mountain team has looked like one of the teams that can surprise you. The Rams beat D’Evelyn convincingly as they rode their hot-man all night. Peterson finished with a game-high 26 points on the night. D’Evelyn had a difficult time finding Peterson as he let it fly whenever he had the opportunity to. Peterson is known for relentlessly attacking the rim but he let it come to him in this one. Peterson had eight 3-pointers and a layup and honestly left some on the table to where he could’ve erupted for 40 points. Peterson has found his rhythm and is a player to watch.
Luke Renshaw – Littleton
One of Renshaw’s better games came in defeat but he did leave it all out on the court. Renshaw is Littleton’s best player as the junior is averaging 11 points on the season but had 15-points to try and keep his team in it. Renshaw is a big guard at 6’2 that likes to get inside and use his size. He takes chances, is not afraid to take shots to try and get things started and is a player to watch. Not a bad day for him.
Carter Rubin – Chatfield
Rubin was Chatfield’s leading scorer in a blowout win over Pomona on Monday which is a season-high for him. The win pushed the Chargers to 8-0 on the year and also showed that this Chatfield team has some depth. Rubin had his best game of the season and it could possibly kickstart his production. Chatfield is set to have its most difficult week of the season so having as many players and one of their forwards step up now will be critical to their success.
