Beau Wilken Beau Wilken 6'1" | CG Ralston Valley | 2022 State CO – Ralston Valley
Wilken was a valuable sub for Ralston Valley last year as a backp guard that created some cohesion and kept things flowing for the top team in the 5A Jeffco League and will look to build on that heading into junior season. This summer we got a deeper look at Wilken as he was a late add-on to a talented Colorado Roughriders squad and once he became part of the rotation he proved to be a glue-guy that stays engaged, provided scoring and some big-time shots and also is a thorough player that fills the gaps. Wilken does what is asked of him and his consistency as an off-ball shooter that spaces the floor sets him apart. He is a tough guard that plays with grit and with one of the biggest turnovers from one season to the next will go from a role-to-star player so he must prepare for it. I expect a huge year for him simply because he will have to be big for his team to win. Crucial year for him.
Jaylen Johnson-Myles Jaylen Johnson-Myles 5'9" | CG DSST:Green Valley | 2022 State CO – DSST Green Valley
DSST: Green Valley went 7-1 in the conference last season and turned some heads as they had one of the more balanced teams in the state. They had solid senior leadership as well as a strong backcourt and one of the forgotten players who had a sensational season was Johnson-Myles. Jaylen was the team’s X-factor on the year and he did whatever the team needed. At moments he was the teams best passer, he rebounded well and also played with intentionality. He can score both inside and out and is a creative finisher that put up 7.1 points, 3.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds a game. With turnover and transfers, it will be interesting to see how he is in a new light as I think he will be forced to score and dominate in different ways but he appears to be a player ready for the pressures.
Will Yebio Will Yebio 6'0" | CG Bishop Machebeuf | 2022 State CO – Machebeuf
Yebio is a player that certainly had an under the radar season as he was able to put up a team-high 13.5 points on an exciting Machbeuf squad. He is a shoot-first combo-guard that can score in bunches and he also is a tenacious defender to go along with it. Yebio scored in double figures in 18 of the 23 games and that was while being the focal point of the offense. He pushes and controls the pace, sets the tone on defense and also is a ball-handler that calms the storm that opposing team try and apply. I saw him play this summer against and alongside some of the top players and he held his own which also was great to get a gauge on the type of player he is. Yebio is poised for another big season and I am expecting him to be a player that leads his team to countless victories again. He is a player that not many have seen but plays the right way.
Brooks Vorderstrasse Brooks Vorderstrasse 6'0" | CG Chaparral | 2022 CO – Chaparral
Vorderstrasse is an X-factor that Chaparral will rely on this upcoming season. He did not play varsity as a sophomore but with so much turnover will look on their young players to carry the load. Vorderstrasse is one player that I know will be called on as he does a bit of everything. He is comfortable with the ball in his hands, is a playmaking guard that makes plays for others and if you give him an open look will consistently knock down the 3-ball. Vorderstrasse has good spacing on the floor, plays extremely hard and while he is not a major scorer, can change the outcome of the game as he provides energy and is contagious with his play. Vorderstrasse proved this summer that when given the opportunity he can be put in any position and succeed. With a solidified role, he will be a player that fits right into how the Wolverines play.
