Jordan McKay Jordan McKay 6'3" | SF Liberty | 2022 State CO – Kings
This week was another solid week for McKay. McKay has excellent body control for a player of that size and has a college-ready body already. He is a player that does a bit of everything, and while scoring was huge last week, his work on the boards was what stood out this week. McKay finished with nine points and six rebounds on the day. He was attacking the glass for clean up baskets and also penetrating the defense when he did not have it. Once he gets it on the block or at the high post, he is a dangerous player that attacks but also can shoot the mid-range. McKay is steadily improving and popping out as this is another time that he caught our eye.
Jackson Brennan Jackson Brennan 6'3" | CG ThunderRidge | 2022 State CO – Clippers
Brennan was the MVP for Day 4 as he finished with a game-high of 18 points. Brennan began the event a bit timid, but since then has come out of his shell a bit and has us eager to see him this upcoming season. Brennan has great hustle and rebounds well for his size. He had it going from all 3-levels as he is a slasher that can run the break as well as hit 3-pointers. He had a solid second half where he was grabbing boards and scoring in bunches. Once his shot is falling, everything else seems to fall in line, and on Thursday, it was all going well for him. Brennan is going to be a player to watch this year and will surely have ThunderRidge as one of the favorites.
Brock Wisne Brock Wisne 6'9" | PF Colorado Prep | 2022 State CO – Clippers
Wisne is a strong big that knows how to use his size. He does not shy away from contact, and he understands that he is stronger and bigger despite being one of the young players in the event as he uses all of his 6’7 frame. Wisne was backing players down from the 3-point line and finishing. Wisne also had a coast to coast dunk, finished inside with hook shots and runners, and also was a beast on the boards. Wisne finished with eight rebounds in the game and is still making progressions on defense. Wisne, as a two-way player, will only make him a more intriguing player, and his ability to do it all will separate him from the pack.
Sam Howery Sam Howery 6'1" | PG St. Mary’s | 2022 State CO – Clippers
Howery had a big-time scoring game and showcased one of the highest basketball IQs in the entire event. Howery is a tough guard to defend and applies himself on defense as well. He is typically one of the better facilitators who gets everyone else around him involved, but on Thursday, it was a bit different as he did whatever it is that he wanted. Howery could not be slowed down as he is a creative finisher that is crafty with the ball in his hands. He was one of the top scorers on the day as he finished with 16 points, most at the basket, and also set up teammates for easy baskets with the defense so focused on him. When Howery is in a groove, his team is usually flowing as he makes others around him better.
Elijah Knudsen Elijah Knudsen 5'10" | CG Mead | 2022 State CO – Kings
Knudsen had another solid scoring day, and that is with him not being the typical ball-handler and go-to guy that he typically is. It is tough for shooters and small guards in these “All-Star” events with so many guys looking for their own, but when he got the ball, he made the best of it. He had his shot falling and also got inside and finished. Knudsen is a sharpshooter with a quick release, and he can create for himself off of the dribble. He finished with 14 points in the game and showed promise on the defensive end. When he transitions into more of a point guard role that can get others involved while also still being one of the better scorers in the state, it is going to open up a whole new world for him. Intriguing prospect.
