Sam Howery Sam Howery 6'1" | PG St. Mary’s | 2022 State CO — Pluto Prospects
I knew that Howery was good; I just did not know how good. Well, this weekend solidified it for me that he is, in fact, one of the best point guards in the entire class. Howery has a high IQ and is an advanced ball-handler with court vision and awareness. He was one of the best players over the whole day as he got out on the break and scored, knocked down the outside shot, and also showed himself to be a flashy passer that sees the game in a different way. In a highly anticipated championship matchup, Howery was the player to watch. He attacked for the entirety of the game, controlled the pace, and also defended at a high level. Howery is already at the top of our rankings list and showed exactly why he is so high.
Kyle Sandler Kyle Sandler 6'7" | SF Hargrave Military Academy | 2022 State CO —Pro Skills
I’ve seen Sandler play multiple times this summer; this might’ve been his best performance. He shot the ball well in multiple games, he was unselfish with the ball and got others involved, and he also had a great attitude. Sandler attacks the rim and uses his strength and size to overpower smaller defenders. He often gets fouled and goes to the free-throw line but is typically adamant about getting his point across, which rubs refs a certain way. This time he was even-keeled, kept a cool head and didn’t let that get to him. Sandler is known for his shooting, but the best part of his game might be his defense. He refuses to get scored on, played the passing lane, and defended multiple positions. When he is playing that way, Pro Skills is that much better.
KK Stroter KK Stroter 6'4" | PF Rangeview | 2022 State CO — Hardwood Elite
Stroter is certainly poised for a big year. Stroter is often the hardest worker on the court, and his energy is contagious. He was one of the better rebounders on the day and went on multiple mini-runs where he was finishing and-1’s, grabbing boards, and going straight up and not being denied at the rim. He knows where to be on the court and the angles to score. He plays above his size and can defend both bigs and guards. He is progressing each time that I have seen him, and he plays with joy on the court. He is a player to keep an eye on as a player that will impact many games moving forward. Brayden Mudanado – Pro Skills The kid from Alaska put on a show in the first two games. He is a natural scorer that creatively gets to the rim, plays excellent on-ball defense where he forced the guard into whatever he wanted and timed steals. He also broke down the defense by attacking the basket and finished with both hands, which guards had no idea what to do with him. Mudanado is a true point guard that had excellent ball control, sees the floor well, and is a crafty passer. In the final two games, he got out on the break and finished for some runners, and hit a couple of 3-pointers. With more time with that group, he will only build more chemistry with his teammates and better be able to control the game. Solid weekend for him regardless.
Otto Landrum — Pluto Prospect
Landrum was the biggest player in the gym for 16s at 6’8, and showed it. Landrum affected the game from the opening tip and used every bit of his massive stature to take over in games. He ran the breaks and dunked, was a paint beast that scored on clean up rebounds, and also had soft touch around the rim. Landrum is a skilled back to the basket big that takes smart shots. He backed defenders down, kicked it out to the open man, and when Pluto needed a basket inside, he provided it. Landrum took over in the championship game to help Pluto win the tourney. On defense, he had a few blocks and made sure that guards had to think twice about going inside. Landrum is a big that will surely play at the next level. He has a high IQ as a big and knows where to be on the floor. He’s a game-changer with excellent presence that I am sure is only getting started.
Brock Mishak Brock Mishak 6'3" | CG Fossil Ridge | 2022 State CO – Colorado Chaos
Mishak was Colorado Chaos’ best player on the weekend as he has been a reliable source for them all summer. Mishak is a 6’3 playmaker that alters the game in multiple ways. Mishak can play on or off of the ball, is a natural scorer that gets going in bunches, and once he gets hot, he can take over in games. Mishak can shoot the ball from deep, penetrate the defense, and also has a solid mid-range game as well. Mishak moves without the ball, finds holes in the defense and scores with ease. I enjoy his toughness and what he brings each time out. Mishak has proved to be a player who deserves more recognition and is poised for a big season.
