With just a few games left in the regular season, let’s take a look at the 11th- through 15th-leading shot blockers in Colorado’s Class 5A.
11. Malik Patton, 6-7, PF, George Washington, 2019, 1.9 bpg
Having both Patton and Blake Whitelaw, who appeared at No. 6 on this list, gives GW an intimidating big-man duo. So far this winter, Patton is averaging 8.3 points and 7.9 rebounds to pair with his nearly two blocks per game.
12. Cole Bott, 6-7, PF/SG, Valor Christian, 2020, 1.7 bpg
An up-and-coming quarterback for the reigning Class 5A football state champs, Bott is quite good on the hardwood as well. He plays above the rim and has more than enough athleticism to finish strong on offense and to deny would-be scorers on defense. He averages 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds.
13. Dalton Knecht, 6-4, SG, Prairie View, 2019, 1.7 bpg
The first pure shooting guard to appear on this list, Knecht is by no means small. While he shoots 37 percent from 3-point range and is among the state’s top scorers at 21.2 points per night, Knecht also uses his excellent length to block 1.7 shots and grab 6.6 rebounds per game.
14. Kenny Foster, 6-5, G, Smoky Hill, 2019, 1.7 bpg
There are plenty of people out there who think Foster is the best player in Colorado, and it’s an easy argument to make. The Wyoming-bound senior’s numbers are eye-popping: 26.7 points, 4.7 assists, 10.7 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.7 blocks. Foster is also the proud owner of several incredibly clutch moments this season.
15. Micah Hilts, 6-5, C, Vista Ridge, 2019, 1.7 bpg
A Texas State football commit as a wide receiver, Hilts is no stranger to the basketball gym. The same speed, hops, length and body control that make him lethal on the football field make him an excellent shot blocker and rebounds for the Wolves. He also averages 10.4 points a night.
