With just a few games left in the regular season, let’s take a look at the sixth- through 10th-leading shot blockers in Colorado’s Class 4A.
6. Brett Bokelman, 6-5, G, Evergreen, 2019, 1.7 bpg
The first of only a few guards who will appear on this list, Bokelman has excellent size and length for a perimeter player. He uses that to block 1.7 shots a night, and also to average 8.4 points and 5.2 rebounds. He’s also quite good at filling passing lanes, and averages 1.1 steals.
7. Logan Cecil, 6-9, C/F, Thomas Jefferson, 2019, 1.7 bpg
Cecil has plenty of size and has been making full use of it throughout his senior season. Through 22 games, he averages 9.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks for the playoff-hungry Spartans.
8. Adam Jolly, 6-5, F, Holy Family, 2019, 1.7 bpg
Ranked in the top 10 all season long, the Tigers have remained there because they are well-regarded as one of the best defensive teams in the state. Jolly is the Tigers’ catalyst in the paint, and averages 1.2 steals and nearly two blocks a game. He has also broken out offensively this season, and puts up 12.2 points and 8.1 rebounds a night.
9. Mac Riniker, 6-5, SG/SF, Steamboat Springs, 2019, 1.6 bpg
Between his scoring, assisting, rebounding, stealing and shot blocking, Riniker has appeared on pretty much all of these top statistical lists. Once more, here is his stat line through 22 games: 18.0 points, 4.0 assists, 8.9 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 1.6 blocks.
10. Joel Scott, 6-7, F/G, Lewis-Palmer, 2019, 1.5 bpg
There are some who believe top-ranked Lewis-Palmer and defending state champion Longmont are simply on a collision course and the rest is a mere formality. If that game were played tomorrow, this guy would be the main attraction. His stats through 23 games: 18.4 points, 1.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks.
