With just a few games left in the regular season, let’s take a look at the sixth- through 10th-leading shot blockers in Colorado’s Class 3A.
6. Jayson Frank, 6-7, PF/SF, Sterling, 2019, 2.1 bpg
Among the most athletic players in Colorado, he has impressive length to match it and blocks shots regularly. A skilled player for a guy his size, Frank also averages 9.7 points, 2.8 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals and is improving from 3-point range.
7. Raul Loya, 6-1, SG/PG, The Pinnacle, 2019, 1.9 bpg
In 11 games this season, Loya put up an impressive stat line with 15.3 points, 3.0 assists, 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.9 blocks a night. He is also an all-state soccer player.
8. Cayden Mazurek, 6-2, G/F, Riverdale Ridge, 2021, 1.7 bpg
Riverdale Ridge had a pretty good season for a new school and players like Mazurek made it happen. He averaged a double-double with 14.6 points and 11.1 rebounds, and also put up 2.3 assists and 2.5 steals a night. The Ravens have high hopes for this kid’s potential, to be sure.
9. Lenard Dawson, G/F, Aurora West College Prep, 2020, 1.7 bpg
Developing as a scorer, Dawson averaged 11.0 points per game this season. He excels, however, at the defensive end where he blocked 1.7 shots a night as a junior. He also grabbed 7.2 rebounds.
10. James Pike, 6-8, C/F, Frontier Academy, 2019, 1.6 bpg
The big guy has done an excellent job of controlling the paint this season. He didn’t score more than 11 points in any game but averaged 3.7 rebounds and blocked nearly two shots a night.
