With conference play underway, let’s take a look at the 16th- through 20th-leading assist men in Colorado’s Class 4A.
16. Brendan Collins, 6-0, G, Summit, 2019, 3.8 apg
It’s been a rough winter so far for the Summit boys but Collins has done his best to keep the Tigers in games whenever possible. Not a big-time scorer, Collins makes his impact by distributing the ball to the tune of 3.8 assists per game, rebounding at 3.7 boards a game and coming up with 1.5 steals a night.
17. Micah Lamberth, 6-3, G, The Classical Academy, 2020, 3.8 apg
Already at 6-foot-3 as a junior, Lamberth has a frame and skill set that position him as a breakout player and a future stud. He uses his length and quickness well both at the defensive end and while finishing at the basket. On top of his playmaking numbers, Lamberth also averages 12.4 points and 5.8 rebounds a night.
18. Connor Imus, 5-10, G, Montrose, 2020, 3.8 apg
Balance has been a theme throughout this list and Imus is another player who has it in his game. He can score when his team needs to, and brings 9.6 points per game, but also averages 3.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals.
19. Noah Baca, G, 6-2, Lewis-Palmer, 2019, 3.8 apg
Point guard for the No. 1-ranked team in Class 4A is an enviable position to be in. Baca has made the most of it thus far, he’s averaging 9.2 points, 3.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals. With Baca doing a bit of everything, the Rangers remain undefeated in 2018-19.
20. Kevin Ayon, 5-10, G, Glenwood Springs, 2019, 3.6 apg
A soccer player by nature, Ayon’s abilities on the pitch transfer over well to the basketball court. He’s a solid athlete and uses his physical talents to average 4.9 points, 3.6 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game, and his contributions to the Demons’ talented lineup have helped them get to 13-4 on the season.
