Recruiting Report: Ben Boone (2018)
Six-foot-5. 195 pound guard Ben Boone of Grandview had a standout off-season and the interest in his ability continues to climb.
“I’m hearing mostly from Colorado School of Mines and UC San Diego,” Boone said. “I’ve had interest from Columbia, Army (West Point), Fort Lewis, and West Texas A&M. I visited Mines in September and am planning on visiting UCSD soon.”
Ben joins a talented group of juniors for Grandview that have high expectations for the 17-18 year. They were 21-5 a year ago and have high expectations to have that type of season once again.
“Our goals are to win the league championship and state championship,” Boone said. “With all the talent and athletes we have on the team, I don’t see why that isn’t possible.
“We’ll definitely miss Lechaun and Gaige this year, but not having them will give a chance for some of our younger guys to step up big this year.”
Boone gave his team 8.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game hitting over a third of his threes and 77 percent of his foul shots. His role will be much bigger next season.
“My main basketball focus is to improve my ball handling and keeping my shot consistent by just shooting every day. One other goal is to make my college decision before the season begins.”
To get better who has Ben watched close? And who are his favorite basketball players?
“Gordon Hayward, Klay Thompson, and my brother Sam have all influenced my game,” Boone said. “My favorite hoopers are Lonzo Ball and Steph Curry.”
