By the second half of the year, he was locked in, scoring in rhythm and crashing the glass. He earned First Team All-Conference honors in his first varsity season, proving he can contribute on both ends. He’s an easy add to the rankings after that year and can continue with another big season.

Hayward has been essential as a playmaker for Palisade, effectively getting into the paint off the dribble, creating quality looks for himself or teammates. With the ball on a string, the guard rarely picks up his dribble until he has critically pressured the defense from a drive. Still a functional shotmaker off the bounce, he has a dependable floater in traffic. 

At his best while attacking the rim, Hayward is comfortable pressuring the rim with either hand, looking to dive into the paint more often than not. Bringing soft touch on his attempts, the guard is capable of converting off-balance attempts with ease, steady in the face of contests. His willingness to attack the rim has opened up the floor for teammates, a dependable drive and kick option for that Palisade group. Through his first few games, Hayward has posted 9.4 points and 3.4 assists per game.

Hayward routinely pressured the defense off the catch, either ripping for the drive or attempting the jumper. His urgent playstyle kept opposing defenses on edge, rarely allowing them to overhelp other shotmakers.
