Super Showcase Standouts: Part 4
The final live period for travel ball took place this past week.
I was in Orlando at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for the Super Showcase. A ton of college coaches made appearances including West Virginia’s head coach Bob Huggins among the long line of attendees.
Here is a look at the final part of my top standouts list from the week.
In case you missed it:
Tony Perkins (Lawrence North/EG10)
There really wasn’t much Tony Perkins couldn’t do for EG10. The 2020 forward has already grown leaps and bounds in his progressions. At 6’3″, Perkins has a chance to be a really good talent. He hit 3’s at a high clip all week and was able to fly down the court in transition. Perkins should be a low-Division I talent by years end.
Jordan Sears (Atlantic/Team CP25)
I don’t care if Jordan Sears is listed at 5’5″, the 2020 guard plays a fun style of basketball. Sears can get around defenses with his speed and precision. Much like a running back that changes directions, Sears can do that as an attacker or a 3-point shooter. I like his chances to develop into something special at Atlantic this season.
Marques Spann (Lake Worth/Ball4Lyfe)
Reliability is Marques Spann’s top attribute. He continued to shine this past week for his Ball4Lyfe group. The rising senior stands at 6’2″ and is able to shoot with the best of them and guard some of the top guys out there. Lake Worth is in good hands with Spann serving as the top backcourt piece this season.
Robert Johnson (Northville/Michigan Warriors)
The Michigan Warriors gave Team M.O.A.M a run for its money on the opening night of the tournament. Robert Johnson helped his unit force overtime in that back and forth game. Although Team M.O.A.M. ended up winning, the 2019 point guard was solid all night. At 5’11”, Johnson has the speed and handles to hang around.
Tommy Lewis (Olympia/Florida Comets)
A player that surprised me plenty was Tommy Lewis. The 2018 Olympia forward created space for himself against a tough Ball4Lyfe group in Apopka. The Florida Comets are a thin AAU group, but Lewis stood out and was able to make plays time and time again. At 6’2″, I expect the big guard to have a nice senior season.
