Route 66 Kickoff: Friday 17U stock risers
Stock Risers 17U Friday
The Prep Hoops Route 66 Kickoff kicked off Friday night in venues across Oklahoma City. Here we take a look at some of the 17U ho raised their profile on the first evening of the tournament.
Only three games took place on Friday.
Momar Fall, 6’6, 2018, Denver East, Colorado Hawks
Big, strong, physical player that really gave the Dream Team guys fits in the paint on Friday. He moves well for a big guy and is a bruising presence around the bucket. His skill level appears to have a lot of room for growth, but he brings the business to the paint and is among the more physically imposing players you’ll see in his age group.
Austin McCullough, 6’5, 2017, Portage Central, Greenwood Elite
Has nice size and frame and had one of the better games in the first day, knocking down several key 3-pointers late in against Memphis Magic, including a tying 3 with 1:30 remaining. He’s the No. 21 ranked player in the PrepHoops/Michigan 2017 rankings and one of the state’s top unsigned players.
Cassius Phillips, 6’9, 2018, Lakeland, Greenwood Elite
Phillips has terrific size and an athletic frame, but it’s his tenacity on the boards that stands out. He was easily the best rebounder we saw on Friday and made several clutch free throws down the stretch in a hard-fought win over the Memphis Magic. He struggled to finish some chip shots on Friday, but overall he was an elite player. He is currently ranked No. 24 in the PrepHoops/Michigan rankings.
Ben Pyle, 6’5, 2018, McPherson, Kansas Select
He is a smooth wing player with nice size that can do a lot of different things at a high level. Can handle the rock, get in the lane and make plays and create off the bounce a little. Went for 26 points to lead the Kansas Select squad to a convincing opening-round win.
Andrew Stuman, 6’9, 2017, Edmond North, Metro OKC
Local squad featured several 2017 players that are looking for a college home and Stuman brings a big body and nice frame to the court. He’s a PrepHoops top 100 player in Oklahoma and had some nice moments in Metro OKCs opener. Stuman runs the floor well, is active at both ends of the floor and showed off a nice mid-range jumper.
Dylan Vincent, 6’2, 2018, Goddard Eisenhower
Kid can really play and is a true competitor. He shares a crowded backcourt with Cevin Clark and others for Kansas Select. He had four points in the first half of his team’s opening game on Friday but rallied for a strong finish in the second half.
