Prep Hoops Spring Showcase Kick-Off Small College Prospects (16U)
The Prep Hoops Spring Kick-off had plenty of talented players who impressed throughout the tournament. Here are a few of the small college prospects that I saw.
Carter Keil 6’0 (Sterling, Colorado Chaos) not a super athletic or big kid but he got the job done. Keil is a crafty point guard who is able to find ways to finish in the pain over much taller and athletic players. He is also a knock down shooter if he has any space. I think Keil has a bright future and most coaches would love a point guard like him.
Jordan Malm 6’0 (Torrington, Wyoming Power) the Wyoming kid shot the lights out in the game I was able to see him play. Anytime he had any space Malm drilled a three pointer and he was also able to get to the basket. Malm finished with 23 points in a win versus a Colorado club team.
Ben Grusing 6’0 (Colorado Cardinals) has a huge game in a overtime loss to B@B Basketball Academy. He had a game high 21 points and made most of his shots from the three and mid-range. Grusing is more of a spot up shooter but did have a decent handle. I liked his basketball IQ and his future seems bright.
Levi Dombro 6’1 (Grand View, Colorado Chaos) has an awkward game and an unorthadox shot but his production was great during the tournament. Dombro was able to score from three and the mid-range. He was able to get his shot off versus lengthy players with success. If Dombro continues to improve I think he will be a good NAIA player.
Kevin Sax 6’6 (Thunder ridge, Colorado Premier) the big man played very well against Adidas Sponsored Colorado Hawks. Sax hit four outside jumpers and his shot looked very smooth. He was also able to find ways to score in the paint over much taller players. I really like his game and if he grows he could end up being a high D2 or D1 prospect.
