Prep Hoops Spring Kickoff: 16U standouts
DENVER, Colo. — The opening day of the Prep Hoops Spring Kick Off there were plenty of games to be seen and several players stood out. Here are some of the players that shined in the opening day of play in the 16U division.
TJ Boykins, 5’6, G, 2019, Boykins Basketball Academy
A diminutive point guard, the 5’6 Boykins lit up Colorado Anarchy Black, nailing three 3-pointers in the first half before adding a fourth in the second half. He scored 18 points in the first half and finished with 20 as BBA posted a runaway 95-40 win.
Tristan Pratt, 6’4, 2019, Vista Ridge, The Force Basketball
Terrific all-around player impressed with his ability to score, rebound and impact the game in a variety of ways.
Matthew Ragsdale, 6’1, 2019, Lewis Palmer, The Force Basketball
Smooth guard that showed off the ability to knock down 3-pointers. He is coming off a sophomore season that saw him average nearly 20 points per game and showed why on Friday as he scored in a variety of ways in a big win in The Force’s opening game.
Dalen Ridgnal, 6’4, 2019, Rockhurst, KC Spurs
Led the Spurs with 14 points and was all over the defensive end of the court and on the boards as his squad posted a big 60-44 win over Billups Elite in what was arguably the biggest game of the opening day on the 16U schedule. Ridgnal is a talented all-around athlete that can knock down jumpers out to the 3-point line and brings high energy to the court.
Matthew Wheelock, 6’8, 2019, Regis Jesuit, Billips Elite
Big man that plays much bigger than his listed height. He scored nine points for Billips Elite in the loss, but that hardly shows his all-around impact on the contest. Scott is a strong, physical player that can bang inside, or shoot from the perimeter and attack the bucket off the bounce.
Andre Sepeda, 5’8, 2019, Colorado Chaos 2019
Kid knocked down three 3-pointers in the first half, added four more in the second and finished with a game-high 23 points to lead his squad on Friday.
