Prep Hoops Spring Kick-Off Top Post Players (16U)
The Prep Hoops Spring Kick-off had plenty of talented post players who impressed throughout the tournament. I saw big men that were true on the block players all the way to some big’s that could step out and shoot it. Here are a few of the post players that I saw.
Isaac Townsend 6’6 Forward (Ralston Valley, B@B Basketball Academy) is a big body post man that looks like he’s a defensive end. He has a very soft hands and caught many tough passes and finished over the top of other post defenders. Townsend also stepped out and hit some 15 foot jumpers and shot a high percentage from the free throw line.
Antwon Jackson 6’6 Forward (Clark, LV Prosepcts) is a large body big who is ultra physical. He bullied the Colorado Hawks big guys in the paint throughout their game. Jackson has stepped out and hit some 18 foot jumpers which made him very hard to guard. I liked his motor and he never takes a play off.
Grant Coony 6’7 Forward ( Shawnee Heights, SSA Elite) is a wide body kid who has D1 potential with his great footwork and touch. In limited minutes he scored 14 points in a close win over Colorado Chaos. Coony had multiple post moves that worked and was able to catch dump-offs in traffic and he finished almost every time.
Alijah Bates 6’7 Center (Doherty, Billips Elite) he is very raw on the offensive end and needs quite a bit of work but is an absolute beast on defense. Bates locked up the bate and was great on ball as well as in help side. He is able to guard multiple positions and crashed the glass on every shot.
Zach Anderson 6’6 Forward (Discovery Canyon, Boykins Basketball Academy) had a very solid game in a close loss in there third game. Anderson hit several mid-range jumpers and also some solid post finishes. He is still pretty raw but with some work he could be a next-level player.
