He received the Samford offer in September of his sophomore season, it was his only existing offer.
After one visit to the school he was enamored, prompting the 5-foot-10 point guard to end his recruitment early.
“They’re all about family and it seemed like a great fit for me,” said Wales. “It’s a school where I can get a good education, and I just like the vibe that it gave as soon as I got to the school and walked around the campus.”
Even if other interest continues to trickle in for Kentucky’s 16th-ranked 2018, Wales says he’s not the type to back out of a commitment.
“I’m actually committed to Samford really, they really showed me love, I really wouldn’t go back on that,” said Wales. “I like the school very much, I like the coaching staff and all.”
For now, with his college decision already made, Wales can focus on his third season as the starting point guard for the Tigers.
“I like being a real floor-general, a leader, and just helping my teammates get better and scoring the ball,” said Wales.
“They (my coaches) want me to make my teammates better, and help my team win every game we play this year.”
