Burton got some valuable varsity experience in the backcourt for Penn as a freshman and is now ready to take on a larger role as a sophomore. He was excellent against both Oak Hill and South Bend Riley on Saturday at Super Hoops. The 5’9” guard is so quick with the ball in his hands, has it on a string when attacking the basket, and does such a good job of finishing against bigger defenders. His combination of downhill explosiveness and change of pace is impressive considering he is just a rising sophomore. Expect to hear a lot about Burton this season for the Kingsmen.

Burton is only “under-the-radar” in the sense that he is a freshman. However, the younger brother of a former Indiana Mr. Basketball is going to make waves sooner than later across the state. The talented guard had one of his better games of the season on Tuesday night finishing with 14 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals a Penn defeated Mishawaka 80-45.

Shifty point guard that has excelled in his role as the Kingsmen’s sixth man. Quick first step that plays with a high IQ. Pass first point guard that really pushes the tempo in transition. Great court vision out of pick and rolls and does an exceptional job picking his spots to create for himself.

A dynamic playmaker with quick end-to-end foot speed, Burton stepped into a varsity role in Penn High School’s backcourt in June at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. Despite a smaller build, Burton is fearless when attacking the basket and is very capable of creating his own shot while also attracting attention and making plays for his teammates from a live dribble. The Kingsmen will once again be one of the top teams in the South Bend area and Burton will make a difference as a freshman. He is the younger brother of former Indiana Mr. Basketball Markus Burton who now plays at Notre Dame.
