Logan showcased a lot of potential in one of the final games of the day. Playing up at the 16u level, Logan doesn’t look out of place for a second. Physically he stands at 6’7 with a bit of muscle on him, while having solid mobility at that size. He ran the point for his team, showcased a smooth outside jumper, and had some nice passes out of the pick & roll. Easy to see why he’s so highly regarded in North Dakota’s 2029 class as he has a lot of potential with his size, athleticism, and budding skill-set.

1st Game: Saturday 9:05 @ Shakopee vs. MN Fury Shepherd
-Playing up in 16U, will get challenged in game 1 vs. 6’11” height, looks unstoppable this spring, do-it-all playmaker, will he make noise in the 16U bracket?

Logan Wavrin is a handful to deal with at a versatile 6’7. When I first saw him warming up I thought there could be potential and he solidified that almost right away from the opening tip-off. He put together a really complete, well rounded showing in his early morning battle on Saturday showing off all facets of his game. In the end he buried weaker opponents on the blocks, he rebounded intensely on both ends – while even grabbing the defensive board and taking it coast-to-coast for a thunderous finish multiple times, he made crafty passes to open teammates in transition, and he showed off that he can defend the Forward spot at a higher rate than most defensively. The MVP of the morning at Edina High School goes to Wavrin with this outing.

Wavrin is a major player to watch because of his long-term upside and the complete skill set he already brings at a young age. Playing up in 16U, it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to compete against older competition, especially considering the strong spring he’s already had. Logan has all the tools coaches look for: great length, skill, shooting ability, footwork, confidence, and the ability to score at all three levels. He also moves well defensively and shows the versatility to impact the game on both ends of the floor. When you look at the big picture,

An incredibly skilled and versatile prospect, standing out for his phenomenal impact on both sides of the ball. Wavrin ran the floor like no other at his size, showcasing rare agility and mobility for a player of his frame, the type of big man who can consistently beating his matchup end-to-end, while putting pressure on the rim in transition and often creating early offense opportunities. At all three levels, Logan Wavrin dislayed a reliable shooting stroke, capable of stretching the floor knocking down spot up three-pointers, mid-range jumpers off the dribble or turnaround, and finishing in the paint with touch and length. When it came to dunking, he proved a quick-twitch leaper who gets off the floor fast, elevating off one or two feet, often playing above the rim in both transition and half-court situations, even rising in traffic. His dunking consistently added another layer of pressure on the defense. His ball-handling skills are advanced for a player of his size, allowing him to create his own shot off the dribble or drive to the rim with body, ball control, and finesse. Wavrin also proved to be an effective facilitator, displaying exceptional court vision by hitting shooters or cutters in stride or making the right pass in transition. Defensively, Wavrin defended the paint with elite shot-blocking instincts and timing that made him a dominant rim protector. In full court pressure scenarios, Wavrin utilized his length, speed, and leaping ability to alter passes, force steals, and cover ground, effectively guarding multiple positions. Wavrin’s ability to read the game and anticipate plays allowed him to disrupt passing lanes and rack up steals as well. He’s equally dynamic at helping on defense, closing out on shooters with an intimidating reach, providing weak-side blocks out of nowhere, and deterring the drive, forcing his opponents to settle, making him a true defensive anchor. Whether as a scorer, playmaker, or defender, Logan Wavrin’s all-around game made him one of the most well-rounded and dynamic prospects on the entire event.

with Bear Tail 15U was undoubtedly the most impactful player in the 15U division at the Lonestar State Showdown throughout the entire weekend. He’s an active paint presence who accumulates a significant number of rebounds on both ends of the court. His agility and speed enable him to sprint across the court at lightning speed, even with his towering 6’7” frame. As a result, his teammates are always able to locate him. Furthermore, he has the ability to drive coast to coast and showcased his shooting range by hitting perimeter shots.

Wavrin presents as a long, high-motor frontcourt prospect who consistently impacts the game through effort and physical tools. He operates effectively around the rim, finishing plays with athleticism and showing comfort making reads out of the post when help collapses. His rebounding presence stands out on both ends, where he tracks the ball well and competes through contact. Much of his production currently comes in transition and interior play, leaving his perimeter skill set largely untested in this viewing. As his game expands, particularly with shooting and face-up ability, his upside projects well into a mid-major trajectory with room for growth.
✅ Interior passing instincts
✅ Rebounding motor and physicality
✅ Rim-running and transition finishing

Wavrin may only be a 9th grader, but he already shows tremendous upside. With his combination of length, mobility, and skill, he has the potential to develop into an impact player at the Class AA level as early as his sophomore season. For now, the club circuit will be his stage—and he’s primed to make a name for himself. Wavrin’s physical tools immediately stand out. He moves well for his size and uses his length effectively on both ends of the floor, which naturally draws attention. Offensively, he brings more than just potential—he has solid ball skills, can handle it, and shows the ability to knock down the three. He also plays with a good feel for the game, making smart decisions and understanding how to impact possessions. Defensively is where he can really change a game. He protects the paint, blocks and alters shots, takes away passing lanes, and runs the floor well in transition. As he continues to grow into his frame and refine his game, his ceiling is extremely high.
