About Tygen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play hard and try to do whatever my team needs. I can finish at the rim as well as shoot outside. I like playing defense and getting rebounds. I’m not afraid to put in extra work and I’m always trying to get better.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m pretty competitive and I don’t like losing. I’m coachable and I take feedback seriously. I try to stay positive and keep working, even when things aren’t going my way.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in my church and community. I work hard to balance school and athletics.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve learned how to be a good teammate and do my role. I try to encourage others and bring energy. I’ve also learned that being consistent and showing up every day matters.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was injured most of the season, which was hard. It gave me a chance to see the game differently. Being on the sidelines helped me notice things I didn’t before, like how plays develop and where I can be better. It made me more motivated to improve and get back out there.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a school where I can keep getting better and be part of a team that competes. I want a good team environment and coaches who care about development. I also want something that’s a good fit for me academically.

Tygen has a very diverse offensive skill set. Michalenko is a three-level scorer, but also a great passer for his size. Defensively, he has great instincts that allow him to get into passing lanes. Tygen battled through a bad ankle sprain and missed about a month of the season. He’s back to full strength and will be a key piece of the Bearstail team.
