Kennedy is committed to Merrimack College and after his performance at the Donofrio Classic this week, it easy to see that the Warriors got an absolute gem in this athletic and versatile guard. On Wednesday night, Kennedy (1st Team All-PCL in 2024-25; Max Preps Pennsylvania POY) posted an impressive double double of 23 points and 12 rebounds. It was the second straight Donofrio game that Kennedy has dropped 23 or more points. Kennedy once again showcased his remarkable transition skills as he went coast to coast for lay-ins or to drop a last second dime to a teammate. His ability to create off the dibble in the half-court was noteworthy too. On a couple of possessions, Kennedy bullied his defender until he got to his comfort spots. Kennedy’s jumper was working too as he drained threes and mid-range pull ups.

It wasn’t quite the masterclass performance that’s become commonplace for Kennedy in big games through the course of the season, but the future Merrimack guard did more than enough in a gutsy effort to ensure he walked out with the win. Shaking off an uncharacteristic start, Kennedy made his presence felt consistently across the final three quarters. He knifed to the rim with regularity, particularly to his nominally weak left hand for a series of swift finishes. As he’s become known for, he was also a differencemaker across the floor game while also orchestrating the offense and setting teammates up for a number of easy looks. All that’s missing for Kennedy in a storybook senior year is a state title which he’ll look to secure next weekend in Hershey.

Kennedy was simply electric during the 2nd half of Judge’s win over Spring Ford. Coming out of the locker room after halftime, Kennedy simply took over the game. He scored 14 of his 24 points in the 3rd quarter. The bulk of those points came via dribble drive attacks on the rim. Kennedy’s quick first step and deep bag of moves got him into the lane for floaters, lay-ins, and runners. He also scored repeatedly in the open court. Merrimack laned am absolute gem in the three-level scoring guard.

While he didn’t produce the gaudy stat line that’s become the norm down the stretch of the season, Kennedy did all the little things necessary in a dogfight of a game to ensure his team came out with the win. A four-year starter who’s helped revitalize the Judge program, it was clear there was nobody on the floor for whom the game meant more. In a game where buckets were at a premium, the Merrimack pledge dished a key assist to beat the third-quarter buzzer and knocked in four consecutive free throws to ice things late. Finding ways to win games is a skillset of its own, and Kennedy has proven to have it in spades.

From the opening tip, Kennedy put on a masterclass at the lead guard spot, following up a 23-point effort vs. Prep on the last day of the regular season with a 17-point triple-double before leaving the game to a standing ovation. Kennedy pushed every right button as the engine of Judge’s potent offense, dominating the game in transition while putting pressure on the rim but keeping a keen eye out for shooters at all times. He guarded the ball with passion and was a factor crashing down to the glass. It was clear to anyone watching on that Kennedy would not be allowing his team to lose on this night, after falling one game short of the PCL finals last year. Merrimack looks to have gotten another under-recruited gem out of the PCL at the point guard position.

This season Kennedy (Merrimack commit) has posted several double doubles. In fact, earlier this month he recorded 23 points and 12 assists during Father Judge’s victory over St. Joe’s Prep. But on Wednesday night, Kennedy took things to another level as Father Judge defeated St. Joe’s in the PCL semifinals. Down at The Palestra, Kennedy stuffed the stat book with 17 points (1 three), 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Kennedy did a magnificent job of pushing the rock in the open court for scores and assists. He capped off several fast breaks with finishes through contact. Kennedy’s drive and kick game was on point as well. His paint touches were frequently followed by well-timed dimes that led to open looks for Judge’s shooters. This bouncy and instinctive guard proved to be an underrated rebounder too.
