About Kenyon
Expert Analysis
Garry Siehndel | Prep Hoops Scout
Brown had a strong showing at the UA Rise Session 1 event most recently in Ohio. The junior averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals. Kenyon helped lead his i4 team to a 4-0 record as well. Brown was very efficient offensively, shooting high percentages from both inside and outside the arc. He has tremendous touch around the rim and can turn over either shoulder to generate looks for himself. Brown can also take bigger defenders outside and create mismatches. He has a smooth release and at 6’7″ can shoot over small defenders on the perimeter.

While Brown has a naturally big frame, he appears to be trimming up. Looked more mobile and agile. He’s a load around the rim, with powerful moves. With improving ability to face up and shoot, he could potentially be one of the biggest mismatches in Oklahoma. Which would also translate to UA Rise play, making him a popular name among college coaches. Brown’s natural gifts give him big time potential on offense. Given his ability to take contact and be a force around the rim on offense, hope to see him continue to work on his ability to anchor a defense.

Brown really stepped up on the offensive end as the game progressed. He’s naturally so strong and it showed even going against tall foes. Was a bruiser when it came to carving out space around the rim. From getting deep position and scoring quickly. To muscling around for offensive rebounds. The MWC Bomber is making himself quite the presence on the offensive end. The next step is to bring similar intensity and focus on defense. At one point he was caught ball watching on a BLOB and gave up a massive dunk. Enjoyed seeing the offensive fight and production from Brown. Especially as he puts his November knee injury further in the rearview.

A preseason knee injury nearly wiped out Brown’s promising junior campaign. He was able to return a few weeks age and based on Tuesday night he’s found his grove. In a rivalry game against fellow top 5A team Carl Albert, Brown gave a tough opponent the business around the rim. He’s strong and powerful, with a soft touch around the basket. Even when banging against similarly sized players, he was still converting tough finishes. Hit one jumper from the mid-range, which was an area he was improving before he was sidelined. There’s a lot of potential with Brown to become more of a versatile chess piece. Who could potentially punish opponents not just around the rim, but outside as well.

Brown made a push to end his sophomore season with the Bombers. And has followed that up with a strong spring. Has a physical frame, which he puts to use around the basket. But there’s hints of skill that could turn him into a hybrid forward type impact player. Was given the freedom to grow in AAU settings, by pushing it himself off rebounds. Or put in spots to attack off the wing. Even showing off thee point range when popping out onto the perimeter.
At the high school level, his combination of size and power will make him a force around the rim. It’s good to see that he’s working toward his long term future. But his biggest potential impact for the Bombers could be him embracing his god given size and providing power to go with their outstanding guards.

Rapidly rising post prospect, who is flashing perimeter skills. Capable of grabbing defensive boards and push it himself, or even attacking off the wing in the halfcourt. Had some nice touch when passing in those situations. Currently does his best work around the rim where his physicality and soft touches leads to efficient scoring. Can see the long term vision for Brown. And how he’s being allowed to grow his game while also leaning on his current strengths.

Broad shoulder and strong frame forward, who has made big strides this season. Provides a reliable post presence for a guard heavy Midwest City team. Attacks the offensive glass hard, has good, soft touch out to 6 to 8 feet. Will even hit the occasional three pointer or jumper to give him stretch 4/5 potential. Provides a defensive anchor presence, which fits well with his aggressive defensive guards teammates. His development this season has been crucial for a Bomber team that is looking to repeat in Class 5A.
