The first prospect to catch our attention on Tuesday night, Young obviously standouts out first and foremost with his size. Not only is he 6’8″, but he has a big body that takes up a lot of room and is impossible to move on the low block. However, despite his size, Young has very quick feet and excellent interior footwork. He used that footwork to score consistently with his back to the basket with both hands. It was a very impressive performance for the Gary 21st Century rising junior.

Anytime you come across a young prospect with this type of size you are going to be intrigued. Young is a massive interior presence that had a very good freshman season at Highland before transferring to Gary 21st Century this season. Look for him to have a breakout spring and summer with Meanstreets on the EYBL Circuit.

Young had a strong freshman season at Highland High School averaging 8.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He is very strong around the basket, rebounds his area well, and can finish consistently in the paint. A lot of young big men tend to float out towards the perimeter and shy away from contact, but that isn’t the case with this prospect. Definitely a name to remember out of northern Indiana in the Class of 2027.
