Look for Ruffin to have a breakout sophomore season as he takes on a larger role in the Gary 21st Century backcourt. He gained some valuable experience at the varsity level as a freshman and is ready to do more as a sophomore. The 5’10” guard is extremely quick with the ball and in his hands and has shown some real playmaking chops as he attacks downhill. We are excited to have him be a part of our upcoming Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp.

There is never a shortage of young talent coming up through the ranks in the Gary area and this 21st Century High School guard certainly made his presence known at the Freshman Showcase. Ruffin is a quick, athletic, left-handed guard that was able to get to the basket consistently on Sunday. He first flashed his speed finishing a lefty layup in transition and then knifed his way through the defense for an And-1 finish in the half court. Ruffin’s speed with the ball in his hands is definitely one of his best attributes right now.

With so much talent in the older classes, it will be tough for young guys to crack the rotation this season at Gary 21st Century. However, Ruffian was the one incoming freshman that was featured on the Cougars varsity roster in June at the Charlie Hughes Showcase.
