Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp - Team 2 Evaluations

There are many great days across the busy Indiana High School Basketball schedule. However, few compare to our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. On Sunday, September 6th at the Noblesville Boys & Girls Club we hosted nearly 250 of the best underclassmen in the state. Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting individual evaluations of every prospect in attendance, highlighting top performers, introducing new names, and much more. Here are the evaluations for the prospects comprising Team 2 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp.   ***As you can imagine, with nearly 250 prospects, we are bound to miss someone. If your team's evaluation article gets posted and you were NOT included please connect with Brandon Ramsey on Twitter or via email at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com and he will take care of the mistake.***   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    One of a few out-of-state prospects that attended Sunday's Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp, Medlen was a solid ball handler and playmaker for Team 2. He did a good job of initiating offense, facilitating to his teammates, and playing without turning the ball over. The 5'11" guard from Armstrong High School in Illinois will be one to track over the coming years.     There is never a shortage of talented players coming through the program at Carmel High School. Chen is a 5'9" guard that appeared comfortable playing either position in the backcourt for Team 2 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. He played off of two feet at the end of his drives and was able to make good passes to open teammates. Chen was consistently active as an on-ball defender as well.     We highlighted Battles as one of the top performers at the Sophomore ID Camp. Here is what we had to say about the explosive playmaker...   One of the most aggressive guards at the event, Battles had a lot of success attacking the basket off of the dribble on Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. He is a good ball handler with the ability to get by his man in one-on-one situations and then uses his athleticism and length to finish at the end of his drives. We expect to see him blossom into a role at the varsity level as a sophomore at Mt. Vernon (Fortville) High School.     Despite being one of the smaller guards on the floor, Johnson showed off an impressive level of aggressiveness as a driver. He was clearly unafraid to attack the paint and go up against bigger defenders at the rim. Johnson had success driving it and making plays for his teammates finding both bigs at the rim and shooters out on the perimeter. He was a consistent playmaker for Team at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp.     We highlighted Ruffin as one of the top performers at the Sophomore ID Camp. Here is what we had to say about the incredibly explosive athlete...   There are a ton of players that come across our radar here at Prep Hoops Indiana. We are in basketball gyms multiple times a week essentially all year long. With that being said, Ruffin is one of the most explosive athletes we have come across. The 5'10" guard from Gary 21st Century was an absolute dunking machine at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. Whether he was attacking the rim in the half court or running the floor in transition he was rising up and flushing everything. There is more to Ruffin's game than dunking, but that explosive athleticism certainly caught our attention on Sunday.     This 5'9" guard from Center Grove High School found himself consistently involved in the action offensively for Team 2 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. He jumped a passing lane for a steal and layup, knocked in a corner three-point shot, and finished a tough layup at the end of a drive while we were watching. The combination of his perimeter shooting ability and creativity off of the bounce made him a tough matchup in the backcourt.     Broaddus has been a Class of 2029 stock-riser this summer stepping into a larger role with Columbus East High School in the backcourt, playing well with [program_tooltip program_id='2076451' first='D1' last='Indiana'] on the P32 Circuit, and now following his strong showing at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. The 6'2" guard is a talented scorer with a strong, athletic frame and good positional size overall. He scored it in a variety of ways and was consistently active in the gaps defensively. Look for him to have a good sophomore season.     This strong, 5'11" guard from Fort Wayne South Side High School really played well on Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. Norman used his strength off of the dribble to play through some contact and finish inside at the end of his drives. He also displayed his perimeter skill by stretching the floor and knocking down a three-point shot during five-on-five play. There is a lot of talent in the backcourt at South Side right now, but he is a player to remember.     The physical and athletic tools stand out right away when evaluating Wetzel. He moves very fluidly for a young 6'6" forward and can play up above the rim as a finisher. We saw him finish a couple of dunks on Sunday, but he also uses that athleticism to attack closeouts, slash his way to the basket, offensive rebounder and run the floor in transition. The 6'6" forward from Heritage Hills High School has intriguing upside and will be one to follow closely down in southern Indiana.     We highlighted Calvin as one of the top performers at the Sophomore ID Camp. The 6'6" forward was one of the very best prospects in attendance. Here is what we had to say about the impressive physical presence...   Arguably the most impressive player in the gym on Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp was this top prospect from Evansville Harrison High School. Calvin has definitely grown from this summer now standing 6'6"-6'7". However, it is still his physicality that stands out the most. He is a bully off of the dribble and easily plays through contact inside. The way he moves at his size, especially with the ball in his hands, is very impressive. Calvin is poised for a monster sophomore season.
