About Joshua
Expert Analysis
Owen Siebring | Prep Hoops Scout
Joshua is the other half of a fierce front-court tandem on his Dream Ballers team. At 6’5″, he presents a serious size advantage right out of the gate. His reach is crazy; wrangling rebounds all over the perimeter and disrupting a lot of shots when he’s on defense.
He’s a hard-working kid who is still working on his shooting, but his size allows him to stay with his shot and collect a lot of rebounds on offense. He’s going to be a natural double-double threat when he hits high school.
For a man of his size, I was also impressed with his ballhandling skills. He brought the ball up the floor a few times; something I don’t often see out of a 6’5″ 8th grader. And he’s not afraid to play a little farther away from the rim and put up some midrange jumpers.
Joshua said after one of his team’s wins that he’s worked a lot on his post moves, and driving right at the hoop.

Joshua and his team traveled to the tournament from Minnesota, and the big man put on a clinic in the post.
At 6’5″ with a lengthy wing span, Joshua has absolutely crazy reach for his age. He has a natural ability to block shots on defense, and play above the rim on both sides of the ball.
He identifies as a Center, but I saw him take the ball up the floor on a few occasions. So he does have some ball-handling capabilities when the situation calls for it.
Joshua stays with his shot, creating a lot of opportunities for putbacks. He already looks like a double-double factory; piling up 19 points in his team’s win over ABP on Saturday. He’s a guy who just looks impossible to get a rebound against.
Joshua says that he’s worked a lot on his post moves, and his ability to take the ball to the rim. And he wants to keep growing in his decision-making as he enters high school.

Joshua isn’t just a prototypical big man. I saw him bring the ball up the court a few times, so he can handle the ball well. And he’s not afraid to put up an occasional midrange jumper.
