There have been plenty of prospects within the 2028-2029 classes that have played over the last two days who will play various levels of college basketball, but Taylor has an argument as the prospect with the highest ceiling. He is a perfect connector on a Dover (DE) team that is stacked with seasoned juniors and seniors. Taylor’s ability to adapt to whatever the given game calls for is what stands out to me most. His lanky frame and fluid movements are the first thing that catches your eye, but then he starts delivering high-level deliveries off the live bounce to cutting teammates or manipulates the defense with his eyes consistently and as an evaluator, your stock in this young man should skyrocket. To add, Taylor shot it with efficiency from deep and used his length to his advantage on drives where he finished strong at or above the rim. Continued progression all around for Taylor in this event as Dover walked away with their bracket championship.

Offensively, Taylor is a knock down shooter from the corner and on pull-up twos, who can finish around rim-protectors too. Equipped with vines for arms, he amasses steals and blocks while rotating and closing out on shooters. And while his team defense is impactful, seeing how well he can slide his feet and absorb contact on-ball is worth watching.

Joseph Taylor still feels like a sleeper in the state although he shouldn’t be. Another player I thought should’ve been on one of the All-Star Games on Sunday…He’s proven—across multiple platforms—that he’s a gifted scorer from multiple levels. The 6-foot-4 guard can go on hot stretches from three, and he uses his long rangy frame, athleticism and craftiness to be able to get to the rim. Look for Joseph to have a productive sophomore season at Dover HS this year.

Among the higher-upside prospects in the entire state, Taylor had caught the eye previously primarily as a run-and-jump athlete and spotup shooter on the perimeter. Those aspects fit in nicely to the up-and-down camp setting, but the young wing guard really impressed while showing added wrinkles as a scorer. On multiple occasions, Taylor was able to break his man down off the dribble and create his own shot with moves we didn’t know he had in his bag. Young for his grade and stepping up to a main role on the varsity level for the first time, Taylor could begin catching D1 attention before much longer if he remains on his current track.

Taylor is a name on the scene to monitor, he is one that you certainly couldn’t miss, as the 6-4+ shooter showcase his textbook form jumper, athleticism and scoring ability. Taylor is comfortable in hunting for his shot, displaying the ability to hurt you from the perimeter when the opportunities are there. But his explosive nature in finishing at the rim and attacking downhill was quite impressive throughout the event.
