Expert Analysis
Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
A transfer from conference rival Parkland, Hines has quickly emerged as a focal point for Central while developing into a consistent double-figure scorer up front. Despite some struggles on Tuesday night, he still worked his way to 12 points, doing most of his work around the basket. Hines operates well from short corner or elbow areas as threat to score or facilitate, showing upside as a slasher out to the perimeter with a promising blend of skill, fluidity, and physicality. He shows real creativity as a passer in tight confines with potential to space the floor down the line. Things appear to come easily to Hines as he possess a clear level of natural talent, so he’ll need to be mindful of continuing to commit to doing the dirty work that his size and athleticism allow for. Nonetheless, he’s emerged as a clear scholarship-level option with D1 potential as he continues to refine.

Cam Hines is headed to The Perkiomen School after a great summer with WE R1 and at the Hoop Group Future All-American camp. The forward with a lot of potential has game both inside and out. In the paint, he easily backs defenders down and can finish in multiple ways with soft touch at the basket. In addition to his playmaking out of the post, he can also knock down the mid-range with ease. Hines can handle the ball on the perimeter and defends multiple positions. He will continue to improve overall at Perkiomen.

Hines is an athletic forward who excels at grabbing rebound on either end of the floor, he always positions himself in good spots and uses his long arms to extend himself to collect boards. He is effective running the floor in transition. His big frame eats away space on the interior. He continues to get better with time and his best basketball is ahead of him. Looking forward to tracking his progress.

With his height (6’6”), solid frame and soft touch, Hines did a remarkable job of finishing in close. He collected drop passes and lobs as well as errant shots and then converted on those opportunities. He frequently scored at the rim despite having multiple defenders hanging on his arms. Hines is an athletic big with good rim-to-rim speed, so he also produced points on the secondary break. Hines caught opponents by surprise with his dependable three-point stroke. He was especially effective in pick-n-pop action along the arc. On defense, Hines provided rim protection and controlled the boards.
