Physically built with a strong and muscular frame, Josh Benka-Coker Josh Benka-Coker 6'8" | PF/SF The Pennington School | 2027 State NJ embraced physicality on the interior and impacted the game tremendously around the rim. Benka-Coker was aggressive in making his presence felt around the basket— showing a level of noticeable comfortability attacking the basket out of his face up game, embracing physicality and welcoming contact on his way to the rim while leveraging his physical advantge over most matchups to score out the low post, demonstrating his ability to score over both shoulders. Many of Benka-Coker’s physical tools popped on the defensive end as well— where his athleticism and lateral quickness allowed him to contain drives on the perimeter against quicker ball handlers.

Like Knight, Benka-Coker was relentless on the glass as well as scoring at the rim. The 6-foot-8 big man is comfortable attacking the rim out of the high post and did a good job of getting to his moves and not allowing the defense to alter his  shot. His lateral quickness allows him to guard down at times, and he plays hard. As he refines his offense gave, more colleges will likely get involved. 

Benka-Coker can play either forward spot, which he should put on display this season. The 6’8 forward uses his handle to get to his spot on the floor and can finish through contact. Benka-Coker is an underrated passer out of the post and rarely forces shots in the half court. He is a strong rebounder and has the athleticism to defend multiple positions on the floor. Benka-Coker is a physical forward prospect who should dominate the boards and score inside and out this winter.

Benka-Coker plays a physical brand of basketball and embraces the contact that comes with doing his work on the interior. He has a strong nose for the ball and consistently finds ways to score at a high rate around the basket. One of the most impressive aspects of his game is his shot selection, as he understands his strengths and takes smart, efficient scoring opportunities. Defensively, he offers valuable versatility with the ability to switch across multiple positions and hold his own against a variety of matchups. He is also a sneaky-good passer who does a nice job finding teammates for scoring opportunities when defenses collapse. With his toughness, efficiency, defensive flexibility, and playmaking ability, Benka-Coker is a prospect who should continue to attract attention from low-major programs.
