seemed to look extremely comfortable readjusting to live game action and providing a much needed scoring pop to this 16U We R1 group— stepping into clean in rhythm looks with sound footwork and strong balance out on the perimeter as a spot up shooter with his soft and natural soft outside shooting touch while also countering that three point shot making ability by leveraging that shooting gravity into paint touches and attacking the basket and driving angles and finishing with craftiness from different angles around the rim.

has consistently proven to be a very poised and skilled combo guard. Known for his exceptional perimeter shooting ability, Young is confident and efficient from three point range— excelling as a spot up shooter as well as a movement shooter. Allowing the gravity he attracts as an outside shooter to open up additional offense for him, Young also attacks the basket with poise off the bounce— finishing strong through contact and with craftiness and soft touch in traffic coupled with a smooth mid range pull up game. An underrated aspect of his game, Young is also a reliable decision maker, consistently making the right read off the bounce, recognizing when to look for his own shot and when to find open teammates.

impressed in the different ways he was able to score the basketball. Young showed tremendous poise and pace attacking off the bounce and finishing strong through contact and with craftiness and nice touch in traffic around the basket. Known for doing his damage from the perimeter, Young was much of himself from three point range, knocking down open shots when given any ounce of space. Young also impressed with his decision making— more often than not making the right read off the bounce differentiating between when to score and when to find open teammates.

demonstrated his capability to play with control and balance, effectively blending perimeter shooting with attacking off the bounce within the flow of the offense. He finished well around the basket and in the mid-range when chased off the three-point line, showing patience and touch. A confident and efficient three-point shooter, Young is effective both off the catch and on the move. He also displayed excellent court vision, consistently finding open teammates in transition and in half-court sets when drawing multiple defenders.

Young made a living scoring the basketball in a plethora of ways. He has the ability to knock down shots from behind the three point line. Young does a great job getting pressure on the paint and navigating to rim off the dribble. I was really impressed by Young’s quickness in transition and can go coast to coast in the blink of an eye. He got to the foul line on more than several occasions. Another thing I like about Young is he does a great job turning the corner on the attack in the half-court and is able to break down the game on the fly. He also showed he could make tough passes and find his teammates for scoring chances. He is looking to build off a solid rookie campaign and is one of the best guards in the Garden State.

displayed his lethal shooting ability particularly from the perimeter and in the mid range area off the bounce. An elite perimeter shot maker from three point range, Young showcased his quick and smooth release combined with his fluid footwork. Young also showcased his ability to find his in between game and get in the mid range area off the bounce and be just as smooth a shooter in the mid range area.

One of the best shooters I saw all weekend, Young was making shots from all over the court and playing with a lot of confidence as an offensive player. Making some deep shots off the catch, Young had a corner 3-pointer where he could’ve been given the chance at a four point play. Young also made some plays off the bounce and could finish with his left hand. Once Young gets stronger physically I’d expect him to be able to showcase a more diverse offensive game than just being a shooter right now.

found a steady and healthy balance between attacking off the bounce and perimeter shot making within the flow of the offense. Poised and patient off the bounce, Young demonstrated his ability to finish with a nice touch around the basket and in the mid range area when defenses ran him off the three point line. Young shot the three ball with efficiency off the catch, with fluidity on the move, and with confidence from deep range. Young also displayed good court vision in the ways he was able to find open teammates in the open floor in transition as well as in half court sets when he saw multiple defenders.

had a strong showing both as a lights out shooter at the two guard position and a offensive initiator at the point guard position. An elite sharpshooter with beautiful mechanics, Young shot the three ball with confidence while showing his versatility as a shooter— off the catch and coming off different screens. Young also impressed with the offense he was also able to generate off different screens and pin downs largely due to the gravity he attracts as a perimeter shooter— being able to get to the mid range area and finish strong at the rim.

It took him a bit to get going, but Young erupted in the second half to squash an Egan run and show why he’s considered among the top rising sophomores in the state. He came out looking to distribute and helped build an early lead, then scored 22 of his 27 points after halftime to close the door on the win. Known for his perimeter shooting, Young did knock down a pair of 3’s but really got himself going off the dribble, getting all the way to the rim for some tough finishes but also showing advanced footwork and touch on a handful of intermediate-range maneuvers. He won’t blow you away physically or athletically, but Young’s toughness, IQ, skill level, and production are sure to catch the eye of college coaches before much longer.
