Jones really showcased his scoring ability during the postseason with strong performances of 10, 18 and 19 points. He played in full attack mode, constantly putting pressure on the defense and proving difficult for opponents to contain. What also stood out was his ability to create for others, finding teammates with crisp passes and hitting open shooters when defenses collapsed. His aggressive mindset and playmaking helped open up the floor for his team and showed he can impact the game in multiple ways when the stakes are highest
Jones did everything he could to keep Mesa Ridge in the fight, finishing with 19 points in a relentless effort. He was aggressive from the start, attacking the lane with confidence and consistently getting to the rim. Time after time he found ways to break down the defense and create scoring opportunities. He matched that intensity with tough nosed defense, battling on every possession and refusing to back down. His energy and determination kept Mesa Ridge within reach throughout the contest
Jones finished with 9 points, but the box score doesn’t tell the story. His leadership and nonstop energy were the heartbeat of the win. From the opening possession, he set the defensive tone from talking, rotating, diving on loose balls and challenging everything. Offensively he did the dirty work that wins playoff games, slicing through the defense for tough putbacks and battling for key boards in traffic. Every hustle play lifted his team. Jones proved you don’t have to lead in scoring to lead the charge
Jones is the spark to the team as he plays with flair. He adds flash with his passes, he breaks defenders down off the dribble, and the team rides his momentum. He’s the squad’s main ball handler, and he makes plays happen. Jones is filling up the stat sheet as a connector. He’s averaging 9.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and a team-high 4.1 assists a game. He’s a two-way standout who also brings defensive intensity, and that has raised the ceiling for Mesa Ridge’s season. We’re excited to see how he looks in the postseason.
Jones had a solid junior campaign as the team’s best facilitator while not being the team’s de facto PG, but steps into a role this year where the ball will be in his hands this year and we’re expecting a rise in every single category. He’s a Swiss-army-knife type of player that brings scoring, playmaking, and athleticism to the team and seems to only be getting better. This was a summer of growth for him as he made it out to more events and wanted to prove that he belongs, and we like what we saw from him. Jones was a standout at multiple events this year and will only continue to rise. He will make a significant jump in the rankings after this summer, and we expect a big season out of him.
Jones made a major impact at The Expo with his all around game. He moves well off the ball, using smart cuts and spacing to create opportunities and consistently makes big plays when handling the ball. With a strong dribble and quick first step, he attacks the rim, finishes through contact or kicks out to open shooters. He’s also a confident perimeter threat, knocking down threes when the defense sags. Active on the boards, Jones generates transition opportunities, and defensively he stays engaged with quick feet and active hands, contesting shots and disrupting passing lanes. His combination of off ball movement, scoring and defensive awareness makes him a versatile, high impact two way player
Jones is a total baller and a real floor general. In the semifinal game, his 20 points carried his team, and he makes scoring look effortless. On offense – he’s got it all—amazing ball handling, a smooth three point shot, and he’s lightning fast in transition. He also knows how to cut to the hoop like a pro. His off the ball game is where he really shines, Jones moves so smoothly and is always finding ways to get open. On defense – his speed and quickness make him a nightmare, constantly getting his hands on the ball and creating turnovers
While the shot has yet to fall for Jones, the guard has done everything else at an above average level to warrant his minutes for Mesa Ridge. A dependable system playmaker, the guard has found success operating out of ball screens, slowing the game down to read the defense to find the open shooter. Additionally bringing in a high motor on either end, the guard is always quick to react once the ball hits the rim.
Jones is a talented perimeter defender who energizes his teammates through his tireless effort on both ends. Bringing especially quic reactions at the point of attack, the guard is adept at creating turnovers against difficult matchups. On the opposite end, Jones has found repeated success through his downhill playmaking. Thanks to his quick first step, he gets immediate penetration through the defense for scoring opportunities. Capable of making the extra pass if help approaches, the guard is already a dependable decision maker within the halfcourt. Stepping into a well run program at Mesa Ridge, the guard will be primed for a great opportunity.
Jones is set to gain significant momentum as a backcourt athlete with Mesa Ridge, bringing a high motor on the defensive end. His quick first step allows him plenty of scoring opportunities around the rim, comfortable versus contact and contests. Defensively is where in particular the guard has shown repeated success, quick laterally and motivated at the point of attack to create havoc.
