About Jakare
Expert Analysis

Innocent impacted the game with his length on the defensive end. I like the way he touched the game. Innocent was in good spots to shag rebounds. Innocent’s made the most of his chances at the foul line. He sought out contact on the attack. I would like to see him be more consistent from the three point line. Innocent is a prospect who should see traction at the low major level.

He is shifty and quick, getting downhill especially in transition. Has a good second bounce for rebounds but just rebounds well in general. A great mid-range game and around the rim scorer. As a guard it was great to see him knock down multiple 3’s. Jakare is long and lean which causes havoc on the defense leading to fastbreak offense and ability to warn off players from driving with ease to the hoop keeping players near the perimeter. Jakare should attract D2 interest if not D3 teams would get a steal.

Innocent, a combo guard out of the Tilton School, checks into the rankings at #41, climbing 18 spots since our last update. An aggressive attacking guard, Innocent impresses with his physical gifts, including a plus plus wingspan. He’s an elite perimeter defender with great agility and instincts. He’s a tough point of attack defender that also thrives in passing lanes, often making plays that lead to easy baskets in transition. Offensively, he has the ability to play on or off the ball and has really impressed with the development of his perimeter jumper, particularly in catch and shoot situations. Still, he’s at his best as a downhill driver that uses a quick first step to get by the initial defender and shows good burst at the rim as a finisher.

Innocent does a little bit of everything on the basketball court and doesn’t seem to have much of a weakness on either end. Offensively, he’s super quick with the rock and can get into the teeth of the defense with a variety of dribble moves and hesitations. He can also knock down the three ball off of catch and shoot situations. Defensively, he’s incredibly active in the passing lanes and has great instincts in terms of getting steals. He should play a very large role on St. Marks next season.

Innocent is a sound guard who does a good job controlling the game. He continuously found ways to impact the game. He did a good job playing off of two feet when on the attack. Innocent turns the corner at an elite level. He has the ability to score a bucket in a blink of an eye. He scored the ball with ease around the paint. He hit a handful of shots from behind the arc. He used his quickness to come up with steals and turn defense to offense.

Innocent, who had a strong summer with BABC, impressed with his ability to handle and score off the bounce at multiple stops. A dynamic guard with the ball in his hands, Innocent has impressive burst when getting by the initial defender and the ability to finish with either hand at the rim. He has a good feel for the game, makes good passes off of his drives, and is a confident ball-handler against pressure. Defensively, he has the strength to guard physically and the athleticism to guard in space. He hounds opposing ball handlers, is the first to the floor for loose balls, and does a nice job of chasing down rebounds in space. He’s tough, talented, and continues to get better, and he should be a standout this winter at St. Marks.

Innocent is a textbook on-ball creator. He has quick, controlled dribble moves and uses his off-hand very well to blow by defenders. He’s also an athletic finisher in the paint and can use both hands effectively. His outside shot is a work in progress but the fundamentals are there, and he’s got a lot of time to shore up his shot. I would imagine Innocent will get scholarship-level looks, especially once he continues to grow and improve his off-ball chops.
