Diaby is a matchup nightmare for BABC’s 16u team. They’re a team of talented guards and wings, and then the 6-foot-11 sophomore. He is a major lob threat and probably threw down about a dozen dunks over the two games I saw him play; he’s simply too big and long for most 10th graders to handle, and he has good jumping ability and hands. But he also has excellent defensive instincts and is a phenomenal shot blocker—he has good timing, and he doesn’t overcommit to drivers. Diaby will be tasked with a lot in the front-court this season for BABC, but it will be really good for his long-term growth.

Diaby is incredibly raw, but he could be a super special player once he puts everything together fully. The 6-foot-11 forward has insane length and therefore contests virtually every shot at the rim. He even showed some flashes of spin moves and touch in the lane, which could be quite an incredible development for him if he continues improving there. He didn’t have his best shooting game against CATS, but better days are certainly ahead for the young buck. Very bright future for the sophomore, who is probably already on scholarship radars.

Diaby has about as much potential as any sophomore in the region. The 6-foot-11 center has a plus wingspan and understands how to use it on the defensive end and on the offensive glass. He has good hops above the rim and pretty good hands for his size, and the touch and feel in the paint is only going to improve as he grows and gets more comfortable in his body. If he can develop his shooting on the perimeter and his agility horizontally, he could probably play some really high level basketball.

is a long and athletic forward with tons of future potential in store. His best attribute that he brings to the table right now is his defensive instincts. Diaby has long arms and uses his length to his advantage by getting vertical and impacting drives. He swats the ball effectively with good timing and therefore, racks up block numbers. Diaby’s athleticism translates outside the paint as well as he has upside defending on the ball. On the offensive end, he is at his best attacking the paint and finishing the ball with that length of his. Diaby has some nice post moves that he brings out occasionally, with still some more room to grow. He has the right mix of tools and talent, which could make him a very sought-after prospect with further development.
