Hunter Collins Hunter Collins 6'4" | SG Heathwood Hall | 2028 State SC is first up on the list. He looked excellent in practice yesterday, continuing to make his case as a rapidly emerging name for college coaches to know in South Carolina’s 2028 Class. Collins has become an elite perimeter shooter, and that was the thing that stood out most to me. The consistency of his base and stroke are two of the key differences, simply because he has put in the work needed to improve in that area. Look for him to have a big year for the Highlanders in 2026-27.

Another versatile piece for the team that scored well at all three levels. Sneaky athlete that doesn’t mind contact when attacking the rim. Exceptional mover without the ball with the ability to either beat defenders off cuts or utilize screens for an open shot attempt. Was always on time with his cuts and in rhythm with his spot up shooting. Efficient shot taker that barely took bad shots but instead got to his preferred spots for high percentage looks.

The shooting helped open his game up even more. Hunter has a good feel for when to shoot and when to utilize ball and pump fakes to get downhill. Defensively he was a transition starter with deflections and long rebounds. At 6’4, he’s able to be multi-dimensional as a defender and guard nearly every position on the floor. Low maintenance in a sense there wasn’t a lot of things ran for him but his ability to understand his shooting leverage and what the team needs made him that much more effective.

One of the top overall prospects at SCISA Live this weekend was Collins. Hunter and the Highlanders got to play in their home gym, and he looked as comfortable and confident on the perimeter as anyone. He went 4-7 from three in a win over First Baptist, knocking down threes from both corners in the half-court and in transition to provide spacing for his young guards to work. Collins also racked up 5 rebounds and 3 assists, helping out his team with more than just perimeter work.

Another highly-touted Sophomore who stood out was Hunter. Collins took the floor with his new teammates in Wednesday’s first game and impressed with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. He was very effective when getting the ball into the paint, both as a finisher and as a passer. Hunter isn’t the biggest wing, but he does lots of things to be a presence at the rim, such as shot-blocking, defensive rebounding, and scoring through contact. Along with all the impressive stuff inside the paint, Collins also connected on a clutch, fourth-quarter three-pointer to help lead the Highlanders to a win over AC Flora.

Carolina Pressure ‘s 15U Group is extremely talented and physically gifted, but Hunter Collins Hunter Collins 6'4" | SG Heathwood Hall | 2028 State SC looks to be the most offensively polished of the bunch at this stage. He is long and athletic and makes plays in a variety of ways on both ends of the floor. Hunter is a knockdown outside shooter with a high release that most matchups can’t contest. CPB will run offensive sets to get him open, and more often than not, on Friday, he capitalized. Collins is also very active in passing lanes with a good feel for reading the eyes of opposing ball-handlers.
