Expert Analysis
Sam Duren | Prep Hoops Scout
Based on an opening quarter Reynolds had earlier this month, they might not be a shooter who can change games quicker than him. He went 7-8 from three in the opening frame against Norman North. And it wasn’t just toes barely behind the line, wide open threes. It was a variety of makes, often with hands in his face and good close outs. Hitting even a few feet beyond the high school three point line. A pure shooter and a true offensive weapon. Since he woke up by lighting up Dale in late December, he’s been an one man wrecking crew from beyond the arc. And is the perfect piece to go along with the high tempo, athletic guards around him at Mustang.

Drew has been lighting it up from beyond the arc lately for the Broncos. Recently, Drew broke the school record at Mustang with nine three-pointers. He also currently holds the record at his former school, Yukon, with eight. I mean, the kid can shoot it off the dribble or off the catch — it doesn’t matter. He recently had 29 points against Owasso, one of the top teams in the state, and the majority of those points came from three. Drew is the best shooter in the state of Oklahoma!

Drew rose to the occasion when it mattered most, helping his team knock off two top-ranked programs in the state, Owasso and BA. Against Owasso, he delivered a dominant performance, scoring 27 points and setting a school record with 9 three-pointers. His leadership and clutch play powered Mustang all the way to a championship victory.

It’s a wonder the Mustang fire department hasn’t been called on back to back nights to the Mustang Event Center. As Reynolds has been on fire. Went for a team high 19 points, with four triples. Simply a pure shooter who is thriving in his role with his new team. He makes the most of his open looks, which also opens up the floor for his teammates. And his makes feel like the type that can potentially swing the biggest games this year for Mustang. Now has made 10 threes for the tournament.

Reynolds has worked hard to improve his all around game, with notable improvements as a smart, unselfish passer. Along with competing on defense. But the note that will be on the top of his scouting report for the opposition this winter will be to not allow him to get clean looks from deep. His shooting ability will also be his chance to open doors for the next level. Playing for a Mustang squad that is expected to be deep and compete in 6A likely means he won’t put up as gaudy numbers as some of the other standouts on the list. But the gravity he provides for his team will be crucial. And along with fellow senior

After earning starts as a freshman, the sharpshooting Reynolds will likely be on the beneficiary of assists from Snow beyond the arc. Especially as he looks proficient as a catch and shoot specialist, comfortable pulling the trigger from even a few steps beyond the arc. The question as he develops during his sophomore campaign is how much more effective off the balance and become more of a complete threat. There were good signs that he was becoming more comfortable as an attacker at the 15U AAU level, but 6A is a step up from regional 15U grassroots play.

showed over two games that he is the definition of a true shooter. In one game he knocked down four three-pointers and another two in another game. He has a smooth jump shot and a fairly quick release. He was not fazed by shot contest if the defense closed out late. He excelled with catch and shoot, but was able to knock down pull-up jumpers.

is in contention for the best shooter that I saw throughout the day. He has a smooth jumper with a well-timed release that causes the ball to glide smoothly to the basket. I watched him hit four three-pointers in one game and two more in another. He is an elite shooter that can provide a spark for his team. Outside of his threes, he showed the ability to hit a turnaround mid-range jumper over a shot contest and to finish at the rim off of drives and cuts. It was a great offensive display for him over the two games.

out of Yukon. The freshman sharpshooter is one of the best shooters in the class but we’re still waiting to see him do it at a consistent level on the varsity level. That’s one thing that we always try to remind people when you’re talking about the younger classes. These prospects still have a ton of time to develop. And Reynolds is a name that we’re keeping an eye on moving forward based on what we’ve seen from him already. He was one of the main standouts when it came to shooting the ball at our Freshman Showcase back in August. And Reynolds already has the reputation as a knockdown shooter after the offseason he had last spring and summer. We also like the fact that Reynolds can learn from 2024 guard

, who is one of the more underrated guards in the state’s 2024 class. Yukon’s backcourt is pretty crowded right now but we see Reynolds cracking it and providing important minutes, especially as a shooter.
