A strong, physical guard who impacts the game on both ends of the floor on seemingly every possession, McKowen has a great feel for the game and is a tough on-ball defender who moves his feet well and has quick hands. He finishes well around the rim through contact, sets his teammates up well, and is a true lead guard who protects the ball well. He averaged 8.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.9 steals and posted a 1.83 assist-to-turnover ratio as a freshman.

McKowen had a big game for the Martin Brothers as they held off the Nj Shoreshots to win the 15 U UAA championship. McKowen had some slick drift passes along the baseline where he found shooters in the opposite corner for clutch 3-point shots. McKowen also had a sweet no-look transition assist for a layup. Displaying the ability to create his own shot as well, McKowen had a nice dribble combo that led to a mid-range pull-up. Impressive young point guard prospect who impacts winning!

McKowen has already established himself as one of the state’s elite on-ball defenders, and that was on full display on Sunday. He has tree trunks for legs and great lateral quickness that he uses to really make opposing ball-handlers work hard to do anything against him. On the offensive end of the floor, he’s a skilled playmaker with good handles and vision, and a reliable three-level scorer who finishes strong through contact.
